I, too, am a newbie to the illustrious Ack-CL board.
I am curious if anyone has considered a 3.0 swap in a 97-98 2.2 CL? I know there will be motor mount replacements, but what else is involved and would it be worth it??
Please advise.

Swapping the 3.0 into the 2.2 is not worth it. Better of with an H22a. There's more potential with the H22 and it a direct drop. You're also going to have tranny issues with the 3.0.

the H22a is a lot cheaper and a lot easier to find parts for...the swap will cost you anywhere from $4-5000 unless you swap it yourself...its expensive but well worth it!

 

Thanks. I can get H22's pretty cheap as I have lots of friends. I bought a JDM H22a, about 9 months ago (that needed injectors and new valve cover) with 5K on it for $550.00.

if that shit was true you wouldn't even be askig about swaping a j30 into a 2.2 cl! You would already know that the h22 fits just like it does in the accord.

Must have just been one of your "lots of friends" aka hookups lying to your ass and ripping you off because you don't know any better.

 

I can only wish I could meet guys like you to answer that question in person. That way you get the full effect of the answer. Unfortunately, I am not due in Cali for another few weeks. Maybe if you can provide some directions, I would love to meet you and work this out.

For the record, the JDM motor was not a farce, I bought it cheap because it was a car that had been on fire (thus the need for injectors and valve cover). But the head was fine.

Sweet! you should have kept it for your CL. I'm looking for a good deal on one right now. I'll be doing the swap in about 2-3 months, or whenever I get enough money to not be totally broke after I do buy one.
