ya ya, another tranny story... i have a 2.2 slowmatic......and it just started getting cold here in FLA....anyway, ive had the car just over a year now, and i cant remember how it acted last winter, but its actin funny now. when i first start drivin it (engine cold) it revs high inbetween 3rd and 4th gear......but once it warms up it does its usual jolty shift into fourth........should i be concerned? is this premature signs of trouble?!?!! thanks guys

 

be afraid...be VERY afraid. My car started doing that last fall/winter and now it is HORRIBLE!! it takes up to 7-8 seconds for 4th gear to engage. And if i punch it it will rev way up and trigger the limiter..like 9k and shit! So if i were you, start being reallllll easy on the tranny, ease off on the gas right before it shifts into 3rd and 4th. And if you need to punch it..drop it into 3rd and wait for the gear to engage. I am planning on doing some extensive work soon that includes a new tranny and engine. but for the meantime i am trying to be oh-so-carefull. Just thought i would give you a heads-up on my end of the problem....it must be that damn aluminum trim that does it..

I got a 2.2 auto...tranny sucks....117 thousand miles on it.

cough.. you are aware i still have a few manual trans left right?

 

Would it be worth it to drop a manual transmission in an automatic that has 117+ thousand miles? What would be the cost of the transmission and the install.

ya ...fode, what am i lookin at $$$$$ for complete install of manny tranny..... iknow i need new clutch assembly and clutch cylinder etc etc....maybe you can give me a list of things to think about fode?!?! thanks!

 

i also would greatly appreciate alist of things i would need for the manual conversion......if anyone knows.
