1st post (Looking at 99 CL 3.0 for son)
Hi all,
I am an avid forum user at G35driver and find these forums very helpful. I am looking at a 99 CL 3.0 for my son who is 18. I looked at one earlier today, it was white / tan leather / auto / 3.0 / very clean engine bay / clean interior / with 110,000 miles on her. He is asking $6,500 and I was thinking of offering 6K cash. Does this sound like a fair deal?
Not sure about the white color but it was a very clean well cared for car.
Any input in appreciated.
Thanks...

fair to say price is in the ballpark @ 6K.
transmission is usually the area of most concern for the 3.0. tough to 'test' that out, but something to keep in mind when feeling it out.
window regulators failing is a less that vital concern, but worth a mention; make sure they wind up/down well.
cl was my first in a way; great first car for a kid, classy, pretty safe, not a slowpoke, yet not a hot rod -- pretty cool dad

Cool, thanks for the heads up on the window regulators... Is this a carbon build up issue where I can take the panels of the door and DIY? That was an issue on my G coupe as well and I took care of it myself (was about an hour job to clean them)
The only other thing I noticed driving it today was it was a bit "floaty" on the road. It tracked straight and level but seemed floaty... I might be just used to the "G" tho.
Here are a couple of pics of what I am looking at.
and the clean engine bay
Thanks for the input

You will love the "G"... I got mine new in 04 and I now have 76K miles on her and she is running strong. I put a Vortech SC in and am hitting right at 400rwhp.
I liked the 350z as well but needed the back seats... I am soooo glad I got the "G" over the 350Z for many reasons!

I bought a 97 white 3.0 for my daughter. Trans is okay, but showing signs of eventual trouble and has 127k. I bought it for $3,700.
Also beautiful G35. I was tossing around getting one for quite some time, and decided to fix up my red CL instead (suspension kit to remove "floaty feel"). Eventually, I will probably get the G35 and turn the CL over to my son in a couple years.

LOL.... Thanks for the replies... I am going to check out the CL again this morning, this time with the wife. Which gears do I need to be weary of on the tranny.... where does it start to show? Also, where is the best / lowest price on a spoiler?
My son is in Cali on a road trip with his girlfriend (we live in AZ) and comes back on Sunday. I am hoping to pick this up today and then Zaino / wax it up tonight for him and have it sittn in the driveway when he comes home tomorrow.
As far as adoption.... LOL.... one son is enough of a handful.... On the other hand however, I do not have a daughter yet... So if you are 18+ (a must) and lookn fo a "daddy" apply within.... <------------- Disclaimer, this is a joke

Well..... I took the CL plunge and bought her for him today... Very nice smooth ride. I picked her up for $5,900 cash which seemed like a fair deal. Items she needs... Front windshield drivers side molding, drivers side headlight bulb, windshield wipers.... and thats about it.
She has just minor door dings and I am gonna give her a good bath / detail and Zaino her up tonight (it's 110 out right now) with a nice coat of McGuiers to top her off.
I'll post some pics tomorrow once I have her cleeeeeaaaaaan....

I definately will get the two together for some pix
Well, He comes home tomorrow and I have the headlights changed out to Mtec 4350K which puts out a nice white hugh instead of that OEM yellowish crap... Next is the peanut bulbs to a white. Still tryn to get the windhield wipers off so I can paint them black again (faded out due to age i guess).

The Mtec lights make a HUGE difference... now I gotta change out the high beams and peanut lights to match up...lol...
Very happy with this purchase, and she has some get up and go as well.

Ill give it a bit more umph next time... I didnt want to force anything and bust it the 1st day.
I been reading the NUB section.... very good info there! Also the DIY guides... I did not find anything on how to get to the peanut lights tho. any info on that anywhere? I know they are 168 bulbs...
Also what is that plastic "baffold" right behind the light housing and in front of the air filter on the drivers side? I can look down into it and it looks like it goes into the wheel well covering... Anyone know what I am describing?
thanks!

The peanut lights? as in the corners on the headlight assembly or on the corner light BELOW the headlight assembly, if its that one theres a screw inside a hole if you look in from the side of your bumper. you just unscrew that and the housing pops out. I think the lights are 168, either that or 194, i think they are somewhere around the same thing either way. If you're trying to get the corner light in the headlight assembly it requires a smaller hand but im sure you can probably still get in there. You may get cut up a lil, but once you do it the first time, its not as hard.

I just finished a 5 hour detail on the car and I don't think she was this clean off the dealer floor hehe.... I cant wait to see his face tonight when he gets it.
