1998 CL Help
Ok Guys heres the scoop I just this week picked up a 2.3CL for next to nothing. I dont mind the stock set up but I'm already researching for the perfect upgrade and I think I found it but I'm not sure what it will take to do it heres my idea could someone please point me in the right direction.
I've been looking all over the net for other threads on this subject but I cant find one. Maybe the ideas so off the wall no ones tried it but anyway.
A friend of mine had in unfortunate accident with his 03 Type S the car is FUBAR. All damage is rear end damage. I have the option to pull the tried F23A1 which has 130k on the motor and drop in a beautiful K20 for next to nothing for the motor. Honestly am I thinking crazy to remove the F23A1 for a K20. I havent researched much on the K20 but, I do know that the K20 is now powerplant that everything is being based on. I've seen some sick setups with late 90's early 2k civics. IS IT WORTH SWAPING OUT THE Tired F Series for the K or should I stay traditional and look for an H or B series. Could someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks

I say go with the K series. They have the motor mounts out for the 5th gen accord which is the same chasis our car is based on. I think the K series in a CL will move it more than the H series.

Why wouldn't a K20 move the CL? What's the difference between the H22 and the K20? I'm not being smart I just don't know the exact numbers of the H22 and K20. A 150hp-152ft.tq F23 moves the CL, not very fast though. But I would assume the K20 would do a better job. The new accords and TSX have the K-series right?

the K20 alone wont do shit. if you do a K series frankentstein your set. get an accord-CRV block and use the Type-S head. i think hasport have a mount kit ready for the 5th gen accord. so look into it, if you want to dump alot of money into your car.

thanks guys
I've been doing some more reading and the TSX is the accord Euro R so like someone said uses a version ok the K motor. So I have a feeling that the K series will pull the car. I do plan on doing a full turbo and intercooler. I am aware that the CL does share chasis with the Accord and ppl are putting K's into them I was also thinking of the B20 series with a VTec head. I'm still thinking and trying to figure out how much $$$$ I have to play with. Buy the way my F series has 130K on it the type S has 35k on it....

Be prepared to spend mad loot, it's not your everyday swap like a B16 into a civic. The h22 in CL is an annoying swap and its been done..If this isnt your daily driver to point A-B I say do the K24 or J32-S but prepared to have issues unless you have a real serious honda mechanic

you sound pretty serious about throwin some money into this motor.....which will definitely make it perform, if you're boosting, itll be sick, but yeah like Platano said, make sure youre confident in whoevers helpin with the swap, good luck buddy
ha, tsx at 3200 curb? i had no idea......
checked acura specs, tsx with nav and the stick is 3260, and the auto is 3350, shit i feel skinny

Hey now I'm alittle lost I know my engine codes pretty well but I have to admit which motor is the J32-S I have a feeling its a 6 cyl but not sure. O yea guys i have a buddy that works at the local honda shop hes a certified tech and I live 1/4 mile from a speed shop so I have the resources to do almost any swap I want it comes down to the mighty green. I've got some money to put down but if I can pull the same nubers with a K that I can with a H or F and the K is almost free "Donor from one friend to another". I gave him my B18C when I totaled my Integ. Thats in a hatch now. Whom would one call if they were looking for motor mounts and harnesses for the K transplant "Place" or "Hasports"? I've got a winter beater for maine weather so my CL is in a shop covered up waiting for some TLC. So the car's gonna sit until April or so when the snow is gone. I've got 4 months to make my CL Scream if anyone has anyother ideas let me know.

Our cars are not as heavy as other cars in its class. The engine is just underpowered. Power to weight ratio is all wrong!

yea our cars arent really that heavy buy any means. now the 2nd generation CL is a different story, but it has alot of power and torque. i drove a TL-S at work today and that thing really has balls. the J32 is a great motor.
