well i finally posted my car up in the photo gallery. Well the site at least.

If you look at the pics you can see the bumper is chipping. Can I touch that up with paint or would it be a waste?

you should at least touch it up or else if its exposed to a lot of moisture, it might rust

Would the bumper not rust because it's not made out of metal?

how does the spray touch up paint look on the bumper? my buddys big bro did it on his black gs300 and it looked like crap.. but thats black for ya

if its just some chips it might end up better with just the little brush on, with the srpay you would see a difference in color and if not prepped well then its

If you spray, it'll look really dull, especially on black. Maybe there's no clear coat on it? You can also feel a difference, it's more rough if you spray. You can't do much with a brush if there's a big spot to fix.

With a little paint chip, you can touch it up, wetsand, polish it, and it can look new again.

I would either just leave it or paint the whole bumper cover. I have prob. five chips, I think the reason is there isn't a primer applied from the factory or if there is the adhesion isn't that good. It's different from the rest of the factory paint on this car for some reason. I'm not too crazy about doing spot repairs.. the rear bumper cover I repainted myself and it was a little bit over $200 including paint and booth rental.

It's just not a big enough deal to me, to be spending a lot of money fixing it up.. if I was selling it someone might complain about it I suppose.

Hey CLGirl,

Let me know how it turns out. I have a primrose with some nasty scrapes and I need to do something about it. Does Champagne = Primrose? :P

I have the Iced Teal and have been waiting to touch it up. I figured I might as well pickup the actual touchup paint from Acura (its only $14 and guaranteed to match). Any tips on doing a small rust spot on my hood so it doesn't look like shit? Specifically the wetsanding and blending part.

Also is anyone else having the factory paint chip/shred away from the gas door?

I have that colour and the Acura paint didn't match because they don't know how much the original paint has faded. Not one of the easier colours to colour match.. Use naval jelly on the bare metal and 1500 sandpaper after the new paint goes on to bring the gloss down a bit.

Thanks for the tips, I think I'm going to grab some touchup online. Hopefully they can do a little better with the matching.

99_CL_girl, Happy belated birthday (which we share)...bizzare
