1998 Acura 2.3 CL - window regulator
Hello,
The passenger side window regulator in my '98 2.3CL just died and the window is wide open.
Do you know where I can find a *cheap* replacement? Everything that I found online is for 1997 model and everyone swears it doesn't fit on the '98 even though based on the photos it looks like what I took out of my car.
So any good online sources for new, aftermarket, OEM or even remanufactured window regualtors for my car? And do you happen to know if the one for the '97 2.2CL model fits on the '98 2.3CL?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Sorry, but I can't find a specific answer to whether the part sold for the 1997 model year (or something else sold as an Accord part) would fit on the 1998 model. I can't find anything for the '98 2.3CL model, it's like that car doesn't even exist ...

What about the part for the 94-97 Accord 2-door? This DIY mentions that the part fit on a '99 CL, but it's the driver side. Is the passenger side that special?

Thanks.

Thanks. So either of these would work?
This one looks very similar to the one I took out of my car:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-95...temZ7972862311
This one doesn't look similar at all, but it's still listed for a '97 Accord 2 dr and it's a little cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1
Thanks for your help. I want to make sure I buy the right thing, I don't want to deal with shipping it back, etc.

Again this is for *1998* Acura 2.3CL in case the '98 model is different than the '97 2.2CL
Thanks and sorry for asking the same thing over and over again.

This has been mentioned tons of times, and i know i've answered it before
1. Any year 1st gen CL uses the same window regulator, regardless of whether its a 99 3.0 or a 97 2.2, etc. the only difference is driver side or passenger side.
2. you can use one from a 94-97 accord, but most times the drivers side one will not let you use your one touch down feature anymore, but who really cares right?
3. the DIY link shows how to do one side, but both go in almost exactly the same way.
4. i've seen some cheap on ebay, and i have some other sites also.. the one i went through was quick and cheap, and they warranty items.
good luck

This is so weird guys. Evey person who sells one on ebay for the Accord that I contacted swears it does not fit on the '98 CL. You'd figure they want to make a sale and it's not like they can even offer one specially made for the CL that's more expensive or something and they try to make a bigger sale.
Well, I'll go with what everyone in this thread is saying. If it worked for you, you must know better and have first hand experience.
In terms of price, the dealer wants $134 + tax, whereas you can find them on ebay for around $50 (shipping included). The choice is clear ...

I ended up ordering this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-95...temZ7972862311
even though it was $8 more than the other one I posted above. Based on the photo it looks like it's better made and it has the same look as the one I took out of my car. I also talked to the seller on the phone and they seem very reasonable, I can return it if it doesn't work for my car.
This is the passenger side, so I can't tell you if the one touch works or not, but I will post back once it's installed (or knock on wood, I failed to install it )

Given that it's the passenger side, I wonder if the window control from the driver's door will still work so I don't need to hook up the passenger door panel just to align the bolts ...

I just got mine delivered from doctorautoparts on ebay or http://www.doctorautoparts.com/
It looks like an *exact* clone of the OEM one I took out of my car. Yeah, you can save $8 by buying the cheapest one you find on ebay, but at least based on the photo it doesn't look like the OEM one and I've seen at least a report that the first one sent made a noise, it is slower than the original one when moving the window and the 1 touch feature does not work.
Now I have to install it ... I will report back if it actually works.

It's installed. The hardest part was to put the door panel back, it probably took 60% of the total time.
The window regulator seems to work fine, though it seems to be a little slower than the original one when lifting the window. I checked and the window is not touching anything inside the door. I guess it's either because the regulator was meant for an Accord which may have a lighter window than the Acura or that's the way it is with aftermarket parts, they are not of the same quality as the OEM parts.
But hey, I didn't have to pay $200 at the dealer ... $58 did the trick for me and it's the passenger side so I don't care too much about it as long as I don't get water inside the car
As for the one-touch feature, I can't comment on that, mine was the passenger side. It didn't have one-touch before, doesn't have it now (though it would have been interesting to work all of a sudden )
