so i have a heavy foot and i normally drive the car hard but on the other hand take extreme care of it .. about two months ago i had a chance in an almost empty highway to floor it and it got up to 215 - 217 kmph no problem then i thought i saw a pig so i stoped .. now two days ago empty road again floored it ,, got to 199 but no more !!!!! it was like it wasnt gettin enough torqe or something .. at around 5500 0r 5700 rmp .. and then there was traffic so i had to stop .. its been buggin me .. i wanna take her tonight after midnight or something and try it again . any toughts on what could be the reason ???

 

Could be the tempature. You get a little more power on cooler nights.

 

true .. and i completely feel the difference when its colder too but dont forget i live in toronto which has got 2ice colder since last month .. so if anything i should have more power .. and then i thought that the temp effects only the pickup of the car . not the power at high rpms ??!!!

 

isn't it snowing in the T dot right now? and you're trying to top out your car?

 

The cooler the air the more gas your engine will take in. Thats over all rpms but even more so in VTEC (3600? and up). There could be so many factors involved...such as...if the wind was blowing towards you, you might get more air to the engine than if blowing side to side or from behind...etc.

 

not today but tommorow will snow .. and about that topping out thing .. i have issues and all that can cure it is going fast ~~~

 

so considering i'm using exact same high octane gas .. exact same syntethic oil that i just changed couple of days ago .. only wind direction would make that much of a difference !! at top end speeds 199 is very differnet from 217 thats like extra 10 - 15 horses i would guess .. that means i lost 10-15 horses maybe even more due to wind direction ???!!!

 

Damn! breakneck speeds! Better be careful, a few people round these parts frown on speeders.

 

yeah .. like i always say.. going fast is bad (his speeds convert to 133 mph and 123 mph, trying to save you from converting time)

And Yes... Its in Germany... its called the Autobahn <--- spelled differently there but w/e..... and there is a speed limit in certian parts... but for the most part its open speed!

 

All highways here have a speed limit of 100km/h or less, which is approximently 62miles/hour. There is a ETR (Electronic Toll Route) that usually have less traffic than other highways.

 

And I say the speed limit AND the police

 

i went tdy to germany a while ago and we got an opel station wagon to 250k on the autobahn. it was a 3 cyl diesel. kind of scary....

i was going 404 north after steels it opens up to 6 lanes and at night there isnt many cars except pigs hehe .. thats why i couldnt top her out .. i saw this black crown victoria and i thought i got busted .. but it went up to 217 i think ...
but usually 401 east at night between bayview and warden .. i drop off my girl almost everynight at 11 12 or something and i hate it .. only thing that makes me do it is to drive that strip of 401 .. never seen a cop there and there are lots of cars so it makes it fun but i cant normally go over 200 becasue of the cars !!

but there is this highway 407 which is a automated toll root and i have never been on it casue i dont have the device in my car( a little tranciever ) but over there appearantly no cops are around but speed limit is 120 or something but everyone guns it .. i think i wana rent a porche or something and try it out ..

well.. i just asked cuz i can hit 128 in 4th gear and reallly havnt had the room to ever explore 5th gear thats why i was just asking.. i have some of the rare actual photo evidence why doenst anybody ever take pictures??

I got up to 140 mph when I first got the CL. It might have had a lil more in it, but I doubt it. It was still smooth and didn't really float at all. I was impressed.

My speedo hit 140 mph in my 3.0, but there is no assurance my car was actually going that speed. I didn't intentionally hit that speed btw. It was more of an.....accident.
