17 rims or 18??

For those of you with 17s or 18s, do you have problems with the rims cracking/bending due to a lower profile tire? I am thinking of going to either 17 or 18 on my car.

No probs with the 17's.

I did hit a huge pot hole on the interstate at 80+ and ended up breaking (yes... breaking) one of my konigs. Dont know if a 55 series tire would have even saved a wheel here. Good news is insurance covered it (wheel, tire, alignment, rental car).

18s will be much heavier and light weight 18's will cost a fortune. u have a 2.3 so if i was u i wouldn't put 18's on. im goin oz superleggeras. they weigh only 15lbs!! and they cost like 280-300 a rim so its not too bad. also with 18s the profile will be even lower so u might pop ur tire much easier

go with 17's. you lose some "light to light" with 18's. unless you dont race at all. i do occasionally, but not much, just for fun.

we have a ton of wheels we sell, so check out our page. you would be surprised how much we can save you on 17's or 18's. later!

i'd say for show...get 18s...u will lose bottom end...but its pimpin...you probably have to get 40's for 18s to give a little more protection...but i think even with 17s or 18s...they both can dent easily depending on how you drive...u must be careful of potholes in such or you might dent a rim or something...hey SOHC how did you get insurance to cover your rims?

chiggacl68,

Didnt have to do anything. State Farm. Called em and said I hit a pothole, told them what the repairs cost. Cut me a check - my deductable. Didnt ever see the car or the wheel. Pretty trusting I thought.
