10 hour install!!!

My friends and I started working on my car at 6:00 pm, Friday night, quit at 11:00. Began work at Noon Satruday, and finished up at 5:00 pm. Had major problems with the car!! The front drivers side main strut bolt was on so tight, it took two hours to get it lose. In the back, where the strut connects to the lower control arm, (the main connection) both of the bolts would not come out, and we just ended up breaking the heads off, and drilling the centers out...Is there something I missed? are the back bolts reverse thread...or just old. we tried both ways.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...................... drop looks nice though....need alighnment real bad.

My drops only take an hour. I learned some tricks because I keep changing my suspension on my car. I'll never be happy with it till i get air ride.

I'm guessing you didn't have air tools? I wouldnt even have attempted the install myself if i didnt have the air gun.

An air compressor wouldn't have done shit during the 3 CLs I helped dropped (except break the bolts off faster). I've helped lower mine, dajuice27's, and BigBrother's, and we attempted to lower swclown's, and EVERY CL had at least one of those rear, lower shock mounting bolts snap!

Once those fuckers are rusted, they ain't coming out!

The price we pay for living in a northern climate (rain/snow/salt).

Correction: they're not "my" tools. I use the military auto hobby shop. I'm not sure what kind they have. Any basic air gun will be good. They don't usually run more than $200. Obviously, you have to by 1/2" drivers and a air compressor. For everything you need, (i.e. various metric sockets, impact gun, hose, compressor, heavy duty jack) it should run about ~$800. If money isn't an issue, buy snap-on tools.

when the bolts broke, did you guys drill them out, or build new bushings for the rear strut connection?

I was gonna ask if you had impact guns, but I see you did, not sure why you were having such a hard time. Did you spray some solvant on there to soak into the rusted bolts?

Damn I miss the hobby shops. I changed my first tranny in a Mustang there, and done major work while paying absolutely nothing for the use of tools, lifts, advice, oilk recycling and other stuff. Dennis you are one lucky man!
