1" drop question

These springs only have a 1" drop so do you need new shocks for only 1"?(Trying to avoid spending $250-$400 for new shocks if I don't have to)

it is pointless to drop the car 1 inch...you wont see the difference in hight....you wont need new shocks unless your shocks are blown...it should be fine

when you lower you car your stock shock will blow within a short amount of time. I lowered mine about 4 months ago and I need new shocks already

But don't the Neuspeed Sports have about a 1.5"-1.75" drop?
Maybe with a 1" drop I wouldn't need new shocks for 8 months

I wouldn't trust the OEM shocks. Even if the drop is only 1", that's 1" more travel each shock is moving EVERY time you hit a "large" bump. This may expedite the demise of your shocks, exponentially!

I have "Suspension Techniques" springs... I dropped the front 1.4 and the rear 1.1... Did that over a year ago. Maybe a year and a half... Still riding on the stock shocks. Doesn't do any vibrating after bumps- seems fine to me.

i knew there was a reason that i quoted this... When parked next to a stock CL... I can definitely see a difference in height- even the rear. Then again, maybe it's because my shocks are blown- Hehe

dude, i say if you are goin' to drop your car, why not go all out; i mean its like why shell out a couple hundred bucks and still have that annoying gap in the wheel well. eh, to each his own. :P

I was originally going to just get a Prokit and thats it. But after much thinking and some opinions from others around here, I am opting for the Neuspeeds Sports and KYB AGX. If your going to pay for the labour to put just springs in, eventually you will have to put shocks in as well and pay the labour once again. I would just save your money and drop it a bit more and put shocks in as well. JMO

I want to keep my ride quality as good as I can for my daily driver. The gap really doesn't bother me all that bad, and sure it would be nice to go down about 1.0"-1.5". But spending that much on shocks when they don't need replacing, I can't justify that expense yet. Labor isn't an issue cause my brother-in-law works in the service area at the BMW dealership.
So here's my dilemma, the springs are from Nopi for about $153 and labor would be fairly cheap to have them installed, but would my shocks be trashed in a month?.......cause if I have to replace the shocks anyway then I would do what most you guys do and go with an Eibach Prokit/KYB combo.

dude! did you not read my post?

i dropped my car 2" and my shocks ARE FINE!!!!!!!!!!

I to was worried about the same exact thing but there are no problems. the only real reason people get their shocks are because they want it to be more stiff because it does get a little bouncy after a little while but ussually that is only because the springs set in.

i actually got 1.7 in the front 1.5 in the back which settled at around 2".

unless your shocks are already shot then dont do it and if you dont mind the gap don't lower your car. 1" is nothing. you won't even notice the drop and your car might handle a tad bit better. but it is pointless in my eyes.

i agree with turbotk....i had my pro kit on for about a year then switched to the ground controls both with stock shocks.. all fine too. the only reason i switched was i thought i fucked up one of the shocks cuz i had a crazy drop (when in fact, they were all still fine and usable)

and honestly..1 inch drop aint shit...i wouldnt waste your money on that. pro kit is one of the best all around kits. good ride, not TOO low, still looked a lil dropped, and had pretty good handles.

and if you need to save money, do wat i started doing recently, installing it yourself. n get a friends help. buy him a pizza or sumtin...still save money.

You just shouldn't talk about some things- cuz they just might happen... NOW I NEED NEW SHOCKS!!
I knew they were gone when i hit the gas with the wheel turned a bit and heard a nice bang... I thought about it for a little while, then remembered this thread.

Took me a while to decide but i'm gonna get the Koni Sports and keep my springs... Ross, if you carry them- hook me up with a quote... Didn't see'em on your site though...

Anybody know of the cheapest place to get them?? I know a few people have these.

Thanks.
