Sharksbreath's Type-S Progress Thread (Updated 6/3/13)

hey all, recently aquired a 2007 acura tl type-s in nighthawk black pearl. A/T w/ 35k miles.

figured I'd start a progress thread, as i plan on modding this car a little bit, both performance & looks.

plans include...

-tint
-led lighting throughout
-custom cf headlights/cf tails
-cf hood
-dvd player
-navi hack

-koni yellows w/ h&r springs
-new wheels/tires
-aem v2 cai
-ur pulley
-mm delete w/ dynomax res
-rv6 v3 jpipe
-atlp quad exhaust

running redline d4/racing ATF fluid
running redline 5w-30 synthetic oil w/ royal purple filter

i plan on doing one thing each month, so this "progress" thread may take a while.

also included are pictures of the girlfriends 08 escape, and my pride and joy, 65 ford mustang.

enough with all that, on to the pictures...

Nice nice cars....Is that a true '65 or a '64.5? My fiance's dad told me a story about selling his '65 mustang way back in the day, and found out it was a '64.5 when he was signing the title over.

Sweet type-s man! Nice mod list.

Correction pimpin.... Friend of mine Scott aka princelybug has an 07 type-s and has the navi hack on his system. So it is possible.

thanks man.
it's a '65 mustang. all OEM parts/original everything. couple of differences with the '64.5, edmunds has a good article on it. it's my weekend toy...i rarely take it out tho unless it's a nice day n i have jackshit to do. i'd rather keep it parked than driven...lol idk why.

thanks for confirming that...i'll ask princelybug if he can help me out with that.

mod list will continue on, as i forgot to add a few things, black vinyl wrap on front grill n back, pcds, among other things i'm sure i'll hear/read about and must have. you know how it is...

Another thing to add to your list should be an A-Spec kit.

Congrats on your purchase! Take that tacky front license plate frame off of the front please

Your future plans look good! Just make sure you don't do everything too fast because you'll get bored with the car. I believe a few members have learned that lesson the hard way.

That's a beautiful Mustang! My dad had a late-60s Mustang until he wrapped it around a telephone pole. He and I have been wanting to get our hands on one recently but haven't found one for the right price.

Sorry man I had to do it!

I don't have to worry about a front plate so I can't help you there. I think there are a few threads floating around here with options on mounting the plate.

11k on the Mustang? Good God. Let me borrow it and I'll get the dust out of the engine for you

thanks. it'll piece together slowly but surely. if i get the rest of my led's in the mail before this weekend, i plan on lighting up the entire car, moleskin on the tint (forgot to do at time of tint), 3m black gloss vinyl on front n back chrome throughout this weekend. i'll post pics afterwards.

i'll poke around for the license plate mount. yeah the mustang was my grandfathers, he spent his whole time keeping it clean, rarely ever driving it, it has been passed on to me, and i plan on doing the same. if i keep her in her current condition she'll be worth some money some day. house down payment...wedding ring...college fund, etc etc.

alright guys heres a little update to the forgotten progress thread.

*royal purple oil filter*

*4.5 quarts of redline 5w-20*

*hmm...what do we have here...?*

*each bottle waiting their turn in line*

*and up she goes*

*this is why it's important to get rid of factory Z1...these are just some of the metal shavings i took off of the tranny drain plug...*

*new and old air filter...man i'm glad i decided to swap them out...*

car had 35k miles when i purchased in june 2010. it's now got 40k when i changed the oil/filter, 3x3 tranny drain n fill, air filter, and cabin filter. all i can say is wow what a difference this combination makes. car idles much smoother, i can't even tell if the car is on sometimes. tranny shifts incredibly smooth from gear to gear, and also seems more responsive. i just did all of this last night, so i'm sure i'll notice it only get smoother from here on out. i just wanted to say thank you to everyone here at the forum who has helped me out with PM's, and all the countless threads with DIY instructions. this place is great.

here's a vinyl wrap i did to the front grill. the glossy black matches perfectly with the NBP paint. it came out great IMO.

*front bumper off, grill off*

*top piece of chrome grill vinyl wrapped glossy black*

*botom piece wrapped*

*middle piece wrapped*

*and here we are all done*

oh, and heres a teaser shot for the next update. stay tuned for heads, tails, drop, and other cosmetic goodies.

Nice nice! I need to do a lot of what you did when I have the time. I'll need to order the redline oil, royal purple filter, racing atf, cabin filter, and engine filter. Did you replace the engine filter with K&N or go OEM?
The ride is looking sick. Lol post some pictures of what the leds look like at night. I'm sure it will convince some members to go with the SMD boards
