I had these rims put on my 2005 rl today, and the front rims do not turn once mounted (calipers too big).
Too bad since I liked the way they looked!

and after reading the rest of the 09 tl rim thread from a while ago that I never finished, we already knew this!
The quest about spacers was never answered in that thread. Is this an option? I really like them!

I don't know exactly how much clearance was needed, but it isnt very much.
What kind of drawbacks would I have using spacers. My thoughts are the wheel nuts won't have as much thread to grab onto causing a safety issue. Any input on this?

So the guys with the rims got back to me today and said good news and bad news.
Good news is spacers will work, and they can get them.
Bad news is apparently I need special hub centric spacers because it is all wheel drive and they are $600 (Canadian).
Does this make sense? $600 seems high to me when I find similar kinds of things online for around $150. They will get back to me tomorrow with the exact spacers they are trying to quote me on tomorrow.

I am going to buy wheel spacers from wheeladapter.com. I spoke with Fred on the phone and he was quite helpful.
Now I just need to find where to buy longer wheel studs to put into my car. I guess when I switch back to my current wheels in the winter I will have to leave the spacer on (since the studs will be longer)
Anyone have experience with replacing wheel studs?

Well I ordered custom 19 mm spacers from http://www.motorsport-tech.com/ that bolt on. 19 mm was the smallest I could order and have the bolt on, I was having too difficult a time trying to track down longer wheel studs and figured that this would be an easier solution.
$65 a piece, not too bad.

Good luck! Let us know how they work out. I think this will be the first use of wheel adapters or spacers on the RL forum! You are treading on new ground! I have never checked to see if the RL can handle a 38mm wider track. Should be able to, as it is only about 1.5". Let us also know if you have to realign as a result.
Also check the mounting face of the wheel. If the wheel has a solid face, there may be a fitment issue. I know nothing about this, it was just something I read about in the link below, but the advice makes sense...

I had 19" TL wheels on my rl. and had same problem like deaddawg. so i put 12mm custom spacers on it. only front. rl's hub centric and 19" tl's wheel hub centric are fit perfactly. but need one more job that make the wheel hub centric more wide. becouse the spacers hubcentric inner diameter is 64.1mm so that can fit on rl's hub but the spacers outer diameter is bigger that 64.1mm so i had to make wheel hub centric wide.
19" tl wheel is good looking, but there is shakiness driving on the freeway.
deaddwag is go with 19mm wheel adapter. i think it is too thick, the wheel is going to come out more then fender. and tires going to contact with fender when the car goes on dig.
the pictures of the wheel i bought.

So does anyone know what happens when you increase the front track so it is wider than the rear track (as in the first Insight?)
RL Front Track 1576 mm +24 mm = 1600 mm
RL Rear Track 1585 mm
15 mm is not that much, slightly over a half inch.
Does it change steering response and so forth?
deaddawg,
are you just adding the wheel adapter to the front?
or the front and the rear?
Could you work with something like a 5 mm spacer?
Just curious.

Oh, I am adding the spacers to both the front and the back.
I was just outside looking and measuring to try and find out how the rims would hit the fender from being out 19 mm. It almost seems like the stock rims stick out more than the lip of the fender at the top as it is. While I do not drive my car agressively, I will have to watch to see if I notice any rubbing.
Also, I just measured (to be sure) both the stock rims and the tl rims and they are both 64.1 mm hub bore, so the adapters I ordered, which at 64.1 mm on both sides, should work perfect. I will know for sure in a couple weeks.

So I got a flat tire today on my current rims and tires. What timing! I am ~2 weeks from getting the spacers and I really do not want to spend money on more tires.
Stock Tire - 245/50R17
Overall Diameter: 26.64 in, 676.65 mm
Circumference: 83.69 in, 2125.7 mm
Revs per Mile: 780.7
Actual Speed: 60 mph, 100 km/h
Speedometer Difference: -
Diameter Difference: -
Tire 1 - 245/40R19
Overall Diameter: 26.71 in, 678.43 mm
Circumference: 83.91 in, 2131.3 mm
Revs per Mile: 778.7
Speedometer1: 59.8 mph, 99.7 km/h
Speedometer Difference: 0.256% too slow
Diameter Difference: 0.27%
Think I can get away with putting the new rims on the rear for now?

I asked Acura if a few mm difference would matter (I actually asked what would happen if I put on new 17" tires and kept two old ones, and if the difference in tire wear would matter) and they said a few mm difference is negligable.
Your thoughts?

So I called around and all the tire places I called said that a few mm wouldn't make a difference, especially since it is only for a week or two (until spacers arrive).
I put them on this afternoon, and it works just fine. Actually, I find the car handles a bit nicer, just with the rear tires changed.

very nice wheels.
What kind of tires are they, and also weigh one wheel tire combo so we can tell how heavy they are. I am trying to build a spreadsheet of all the different wheels used in the forum.

Ahhh..
Oooooh... Like the tease, lookin forward to seein more, but I love it. Very OEM and a much better size than the 18" A-Spec offered for the RL.. which is what I got...
I don't wanna mess with that spacer stuff tho, so I'm happy. Plus got a sick deal on the A-Specs.
When you gettin em all on?

The tires are Yokohama S.Drive 245/40R19. I don't have a scale, but I will try to weigh them somehow before they are on the car.

Good to see people still doin some ADVANCE with the RL.. even though it's a dead car, both literally and figuratively, at least for now... C'monnn 350+ HP 2011 RL....
Can't wait for the finished pics!
