Window Tinting
Window Tinting
I brought this topic up about 6 months ago with little response. But does anyone know the % of the factory window tint for a 2010 MDX.
I recently got my front windows tinted. Illinois is very specific and somewhat tight on window tinting laws. If the back windows are 35%, then I can get 35% on the front. If the back windows are 30% or darker, then I have to stay w/ the 45% I got on the fronts. Just checking back to see if anyone knows... Thanks!

I think it is also 35%.
FWIW - I measured the delta with my rear windows up and down using my photo light meter.
There was a 2 stop difference .... meaning 25% as much light
entering the window when it was up {so the window glass adds 10%
reduction in light to the 35% reduction}.
If anyone ever stops you and measures "too dark" make sure they understand that glass itself adds to reduction.
Also - unless they can prove their light meter is proper calibrated ...
you can always present that problem to officer and/or judge.

I have 35% on my front windows. I'm assuming the 2008 and 2010 rear windows are the same.
Unless it's noon on a sunny day, the tint matches up nicely. I suppose 30% would be a closer match on the sunnier days.

well. it is depend on the brand of the film used. here is the example I test it out with the tint meter. all 3 cars are tinted front 35%, back 5%.
according to the tint meter.
toyota 4runner. 27%, 28 % front. 1% back.
Honda Pilot. 30%, 32 % front. 4% back.
Toyota Matrix. 32 % front. 3% back.
I paid $270 to tint the front/back/side. It come out nice. the brand is llumar charocal ATF.

I have a reliable company who does mobile tinting and does all my vehicles right in my garage. Indiana law is 30% maximum, I was told by technician that matching my front side windows to the stock rear tinting would be illegal, therefore I am assuming it must be ~25-30% to match. For perspective, Limos have 5% tint.
I have my G37 coupe even darker at 20%, I was actually pulled over for this one time at night. (Our local police have time on their hands obviously) He used a device to measure my tinting and it came in at 16%. I was given a warning and was told they usually won't ticket unless it is less than 15% on a passenger car. Then again, I assume every state has its own laws and every police officer they're own discretion. He did tell me that he was the only officer on the force that even upholds this obscure law anyway. Hell, almost every SUV I see in my community has the front side windows to match the rears. Matching looks the best but you take your chances with your local law enforcement.
