Transmission Question

I drove the MDX for the first time today. When cold it shifts fine, right into R and D no problem. The problem is after driving for a while when at a light it seems when in D5 it goes into neutral. I have to move the selector to D1, than manually shift up to D5. But once I get going, I have no shifting problems what so ever, its very smooth.

Would a fluid change fix this?

It's preventing you from damaging the transmission. You should not be in 5th gear at a complete stop.

You did not state which year or model so answers will be generic.

See OP, now you got some folks confused. You should have posed this in your first thread, instead of starting another!

The tranny on the '01-'02 MDX is notorious for having problems. Maybe you should asked the person you got it from(a family member you said?), when was the last time the transmission fluid got changed?

Sorry All.... Its a 2001 MDX Touring. I'm getting a P0740 code. Basically what will happen is randomly I wil hit the gas and it will just rev. I have to put it into D1 to get it to start going again. But it doesn't shift funny. Only occasionally I have this no power problem.

Could I get away with just replacing the torque converter or am I looking at a full rebuild?
Would an 03+ transmission fit my truck?
