Running boards and removal

Hey guys and gals, after getting some great input on this forum, I'm in the market for an 07-09 MDX. Ideally I'd like to get the Tech package for the upgraded stereo, but it seems that all the MDXs I see with Tech also have running boards. I know many people like them, but I really don't like the look of them on the MDX. Two questions:
1. Are running boards part of the Tech package for 07-09s?
2. How easy is it to remove them? I'm pretty handy working on my cars, and have installed and removed running boards from many trucks and SUVS in the past, but since I don't have an MDX yet, I can't just climb under it and check it out. Is it as easy as removing a handful of bolts?

Thanks!

I don't think any MDX came stock with running boards, they were dealer options, maybe the dealers in your area optioned all tech models with them

I think you can remove them but you will need the plastic trim that they remove to put the boards else it will look weird.

No. It's an extra accessory that is purchased and installed separately. Of course, with a used car you can get them already installed on the car.

Very easy. About 10 minutes on each side. removed mine years ago. They are completely useless.
