With the 2017's now on the lots, what type of deals are you folks getting on a 2016 MDX with the Advance Package and AWD? Thanks!

Depending on the markets. Check Edmunds for your local pricing. My guess is that getting under invoice is expected.

I have an Advance model and you may want to look at the history of resale on them. They tend to drop in price a little more than the tech or base model. I have a TLX Advance and the MDX Advance and to tell the truth I don't think I'll buy another Advance.

I'm looking at 2016 SH-AWD Advance, most recent quote I got is $48,920 + doc + tax (MSRP ~$55,320 I believe). This is in Indianapolis area.

Yeah, that's true of a lot of cars. High option packages often depreciate a touch more. The fact that the Tech package makes up like 70% of sales acts as a gravitational pull for everything else.

After I purchased my 2015 MDX Advance I used all the stuff for a few months and then it just became normal things on a car. Now I don't use much of it at all after 18 months.

I find the ventilated seats very welcome in the summer, front parking sensors are useful, and sunshades good for the kids.

There are definitely features of the cars that I don't use anymore. Such as the paddle shifters; with 9 gears it's just plain cumbersome to try to paddle shift. On my RDX I used them a decent amount.

I hear you TMQ but for a $6000 premium over the Tech model I don't think it's worth it after owning it for 18 months.

It's worth getting the advance just for the wheels.

Well, really $4.6K if you account for Acura Watch.

We'll probably keep the car for a while (min 10 yrs), so features are good to have. Value of the features is different for everyone, but my wife will be driving it more and the safety features useful, little things like auto dimming side mirrors, and parking sensors for parking in urban environment. Heated 2nd row seats will be used quite often where I live.

Just saying, the stuff seems to be getting used less and less the longer I have it. If I were going to get another one I may just go with a base SHAWD and connect my phone and use it for voice commands, music and navigation.

It does, haha! And the dashboard of this car was clearly designed with the intent that most of these would have nav, because without nav it's kind of pointless to have such a prominent screen just to display...uh, settings menus and the current song? All the other stuff it does could have been incorporated into the lower display. If someone could figure out how to retrofit CarPlay into this thing and have a switch to toggle the upper screen to show CarPlay, it would be almost perfect. Well, except saying that now I realize the upper screen isn't a touchscreen...argh.

Anyway, we have an Advance and we bought it because (a) it was a great deal and (b) we really like the nicer leather, cooled seats, and parking sensors. The other stuff is nice too but is more icing on the cake.

I use the phone for navigation 50% of the time anyway because it is better at traffic, and where I am, traffic can double your travel time pretty easily.

There are a couple of companies with cellphone screen mirroring hardware pieces if you want that.

Naviks and NavTool I believe. Totally worth it if you don't have navigation to get google maps up there.

Advance package just basically adds a few speakers and has the flip down LCD screen w/DVD player (among a few other minor interior enhancements). The ~ $5k added to the sticker price over the technology package was not worth it in my opinion. I leased (36mo. @ 12k miles) a 2016 MDX tech package for $540/month, less than $1k on the down payment. I believe the sticker price before negotiations was around $48k (to give you a perspective if you wanted to buy vs. lease).

My local dealership had 31 2016 MDX's on the lot, so I had a lot of negotiating room (their initial offering to me was $595/month). Went in on the last day of the month and got the price I wanted.

Goodluck!

Just a small point of correction, the LCD screen/DVD player is not part of the Advance package. That is the Entertainment package, and it can be optioned independently on top of Tech or Advance.

In total, the features that you can only get on the 2016 Advance are:
  • Sport seats with perforated Milano premium leather-trimmed interior
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Heated 2nd -row seats (outboard positions)
  • Front passenger’s power-lumbar support
  • Remote engine start with vehicle feedback
  • Idle Stop
  • Parking sensors (front and rear)
  • Front Seat Belt e-Pretensioner System
  • 19-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels
  • Roof rails *
  • Auto dimming side mirrors
  • 2nd-row side sunshades (manual)
* = can be added to other packages as dealer-installed accessory

The AcuraWatch features are not included as "Advance exclusive" because you can get them by adding AcuraWatch to any other trim level.

Just depends on what you value. The nicer seats, seat ventilation, and parking sensors were the clinchers for us.

You're correct, my apologies. OP is asking more about overall vehicle cost of the Advance package vs. other options, not necessarily the features included w/Advance.

Maybe you can provide that info as a point of reference?

Yep. I got pricing on 2016 Advance and Tech+AcuraWatch models when we were shopping, which is a good comparison because Tech+AW is the "next step down" from Advance. The best I got was:

Advance: $48,940 (MRSP: 55,230)
Tech+AW: $46,500 (MSRP: 50,640)

(Those prices do not include the $940 destination charge.)

As you can see there, the difference in the sales prices I was getting was only $2,440, even though the MSRP difference was $4,590. I was consistently seeing bigger discounts on Advance models as they're trying to get the 2016s off the lot; my guess is because there's a lot of Advance models left out there. Certainly at my two local dealers, I think 30-40% of their remaining inventory were Advance. Also, they know that people shopping end-of-model-year are typically bargain hunters, so they're going to be more price sensitive -- and those more motivated by a bigger discount on the more expensive model.

I would check around but seems like under 50k would be a good deal. I think someone mentioned getting as low as 48.5k at some point but that might not have been AWD I'm not sure. Def try for under 50 though.

According to truecar, the average paid in my area is $52,600. That's already $3,500 off of sticker price. To me that seems like a pretty good deal on a brand new vehicle. I'm sure as time goes on, the prices will bottom out.

Not sure if you saw my post above yours, but that was the pricing I got just a couple weeks ago: $48,940 for an Advance AWD, plus destination ($940), tax, title, doc fee (which was like $200). MSRP on my car was $56,170. I had to play two dealerships against each other to get it.
