Posted this on another forum as well but same holds true for this fine site so doing the same...
Hello. Just spent way too much time piecing together info from multiple sources to locate and successfully power/wire new aftermarket backup camera for our 2013 Base model MDX. It appears most everyone else is powering this at the reverse light in the rear of the MDX. Due to circumstances not really worth mentioning, my power connection was at the front of the vehicle and I did not want to risk fishing the wire back. As an aside, I went above the headliner along driver side to complete the task of getting the wire from rear to front. Anyway, there is a brown wire in pin 5 of the 30 pin harness in the MICU near the driver kick plate. To access that I removed the driver side dash panel, removed the fuse box cover, and then pulled back/loosened the trim piece above the kick plate to allow access to the 30-pin which faces the rear of the MDX. Removed the 30-pin harness by lifting up on the tab and pulling out; came out quite easily. After carefully cutting away some of the tape bunching the various wires together in order to have more room, I then used a quick splice terminal to connect to this # 5 brown wire to the red power wire of my camera (Pioneer nd-bc8) and the purple reverse wire out of the back of new aftermarket stereo (JVC KW-M785BW). Couple of pics for reference.
This site has helped me in multiple ways over the years, we've owned this MDX for almost 8 years now, and my hope is at least 1 person will find value in this. Now if I can just figure out how to get my X to quit drinking so much oil! General location of MICU where green wiring harness is located. 5th pin from the bottom holds the magical wire After so long searching, reading, and watching videos, this guide that was a brief mention on a YT video honed me in on the price wire.
