I'm getting a lot of requests for TSB's so I've uploaded my entire collection in a zip file to megaupload. I don't have any of the earlier pdf's. My files start at B07_026. If it's not there, then I don't have it.
You have to wait 45 secs before you can download the file, unless you have a premium acct.
Here's the link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YTICXONH

I purchased an Extended Warranty on a 2003 MDX. I had a problem after buying the vehicle. I see that the repair I need is in the TSB, shouldn't there be N/C for these repairs ? I have a $50 deductible but part of the service is not being covered and I have to pay an add'l $200. This does not seem right. And the Warranty company is not part of the BBB.

Just because there is a TSB, doesn't mean it will be covered no charge. If you have access to the TSB and read it, it probably says something about "if out of warranty, it may be covered with approval as good will" or something like that.

The add'l $200 is to cover the proper repairs involved when replacing the torque converter, that the warranty will not pay for. The alignment, the updating of the computer and some other things. Luckily, the dealership I purchased it from is picking up the cost over my $50 deductible.
There are add'l repairs found, but were said to be pre-existing, which really sucks because I will have only had the car a month tomorrow.
The covered repair will be done tomorrow at the end of the day. Unfortunately, the rest of the repairs will have to be done a little bit at a time, as I had no idea that I'd have to spending all this money as soon as I bought it.

Hmmm. Not sure if or who you can negotiate with, but if the $200 are necessary to do proper repairs, it could be argued that they should be part of the torque converter replacement. After all if the alignment is fine today, it should be returned the same way, no?
What other repairs are needed? Share them here and some members may have some thoughts, ideas or quick fixes to help save you some time and $$.

Let me back up a bit. So the dealership I bought the car from said they could not work on the Acura(Honda dealership) so I was sent to an Acura dealership for the "rumble". This is what the Acura dealership found on inspection:
Transmission torque converter replacement- Warranty covering part of this repair now.
Timing belt replacement
Side engine mount is broken
Right Axle seal is leaking fluid
Front Sway bar bushings are worn out
Engine air filter dirty
Brake fluid is dirty and needs to be changed
Front and rear differentials need to be serviced
Rear blower motor is laboring to blow air needs cleaning
I thought purchasing a car from a dealership would give me a piece of mind, apparently not. I have never owned a vehicle long enough to have over 60k miles to have this much work done on it.

Whoever told you that a Honda dealer couldn't work on an Acura is feeding you a steaming pile of you know what. Your MDX is a HONDA. I believe on the same chassis / frame as the Pilot. I'm betting the dealer knew the problems existed and wanted you to buy and go elsewhere do they aren't on the hook. Don't know how long you have had the MDX or if you got any sort of "3 day return" Policy, but they aren't doing you any favors. I would go back and raise hell in the showroom until you are satisfied.
TB is a maintenance item and will cost some $$, but needs to be done at a certain mileage (not sure for 03). Other members have been raving about Hamilton Honda in NJ for this service based on cost. Again Acura owners are taking their cars to a HONDA dealer.
I can go on and on here about the other items but won't unless you want me to.

Honda dealers can work on your Acura as long as you are paying for the work to be done. If the work is under an Acura warranty, I don't believe they can work on it and be reimbursed by Acura. If work is done under an aftermarket warranty, that company can tell you where it can be worked on or the policy will state where.

Actually, the MDX is modelled after the Oydessey mini van. After sent to Acura, I have been involved with the warranty company and the Honda dealership. The general mgr. said I never should have been sent to Acura, but the service advisor told me that they are trained on Acura and yes I realize that Honda is the less expensive version. I have had the car exactly for 1 month today, but this started back at the end of May. The service advisor at Honda was right with where the rumble was coming from. But then Honda wanted the car back to look at it after going to Acura and another service tech misdiagnosed it as being the left strut for the noise. Left strut was replaced at N/C to me, but the problem still exists. Doesn't give me any faith in having them do any repairs on the car. Gen. mgr. said that Honda should have dealt with Acura instead of me getting the run around.
As far as the timing belt, it should be changed at 7 yrs. or 105k miles.
I will be taking the car to an authorized Acura/Honda shop for further repairs that I have already inquired on costs.
How would I know what maintenance had not been done with the previous owner ? This has been a nightmare and having to pay the $50 deductible today is going to short me $$ for the remainder of the month.
I welcome any advice. My Ex thinks this is a load of crap. And he said not to back down on the original dealership for unloading this car on me(I also have 2 kids).

Timing belt - I wasn't sure if the 1st generation MDX was the same as the 2nd generation. I assume you are at or near 105K? Most folks have the water pump replaced at the same time as the dealer is already in there and there is no extra labor - shouldn't be!
In terms of prior maintenance having been done by the prior owner, if it was done at a dealer, they should be able to pull up the maintenance by the vin. Whether they share it with you is TBD.
There is no way to tell the differential fluids need to be changed unless the diffs are opened. Again - if you inquire, the dealer may be able to provide a service history.
Sounds like you may have an ally in the general manager. Can he help you at all? Are the Honda and Acura dealers owned by the same person/company?
Not sure if you know or someone could recommend a good independent shop for you. You seem partial to the dealers, but an independent shop can save you some $$. There may be some AZ members who may be able to help you here.
I agree with your Ex - you are/have been taken advantage of.

No, the Acura and Honda dealership are owned by different people.
With the Warranty work being done, the original dealership is picking up the cost over the $50 deductible.
Yes, there is a good shop here in town which my dad always brought his Hondas to(he lives in another city now and owns an Acura) and that's where I will take it for any work.
I have been trying to get in contact with Acura to see if I can cancel the one through National Warranty(located in OR, like I am) and switch to Acura, but have not had any luck via email.

I don't believe your 03 MDX is going to be eligible for any sort of Acura warranty.
Not sure I understand. Isn't the warranty company paying the warranty claim and should't the original dealer be covering your deductible?
Hopefully this all gets cleared up for you soon and you can concentrate on the important stuff, like your kids

The warranty company does not include the computer update, alignment and some other things that go along with a complete repair to the replacement of the Torque converter. That alone the dealership quoted $2900 for the part.
The Honda dealership is having me pay for my deductible.
I don't want to pay for any of the repair as I have a car payment/warranty payment now.
I'm really sick of this consuming me now for close to a month.
The car had 115k+ on it when I purchased it. My car sold very quickly on the lot. I know I got screwed on the trade-in, which was paid for and I paid the price they had listed for this vehicle, which had the wholesale price listed on the internet for it and not retail. I still think this is a load of crap.
The dealership also has VWs and they did alot of work for free with the VW Jetta I bought from a private party last year.
When sold the extended warranty, I was told if they approved the repair, I just paid $50, but the warranty company only is allowing so much time for the repair to be done and the dealership is saying it's going to take longer etc.......
I appreciate all your feedback. My parents keep tight reins on me since the divorce and they were not happy with this purchase. So I cannot let them know that this is going on. My Ex at least took the time to talk to me, but it's not his place to go and defend me.

Another refreshed Acura introduced in the early 2000s was the MDX, a popular three-row crossover SUV based on the Honda Odyssey minivan.
I got this from Wikepedia.

Do you have any ability to negotiate with the warranty company? Is the dealer willing to speak to them on your behalf? Can the warranty company give/recommend a shop where you can get the repairs done for their reimbursement costs? Not that you would necessarily get the repairs done at their recommended shop, but it might open a door to negotiate. The alignment and computer update are part of a proper repair - again another point to raise with the warranty company.
Who sold you the warranty - the Honda dealer? Not that you probably have anyway to prove it, but if you were told "if they approved the repair, I just paid $50", it would be worth raising with the F&I person or the sale person at the dealer - whomever sold the warranty to you. You may be wasting your breath, though. Look through the warranty paperwork you have and see what it says.
I think we are both correct in that the MDX / Pilot and Odyssey in 2003 were all of the same chassis.

The "Honda" dealership sold the extended warranty to me. It's an dealership that owns Honda, VW, BMW and then Lexus and a bunch others in other states.
The service advisor thinks it's a load of crap that there are things that go with the Torque Converter replacement that they aren't covering.
I will be calling the warranty company again tomorrow. It shouldn't be this hard. And the Honda dealership should not have put me through this to begin with!
I have purchased at least 6 brand new cars in the past(when I was married) and they definately treat you differently when buying used.
I will write a letter to O'Brien Autogroup(Honda)the owner and tell about my experience and the run around and so forth.
I still have many more repairs to deal with and on a limited income it's going to be hard.
Yes, the car can get repaired where ever I like if it's warranty work. Like I said before there is a small shop in town where my dad use to bring his vehicles to and was very please before moving out of town.
Hopefully, I will get my car back tomorrow when my kiddies return too.
I was looking online and trying to figure out if I could change the Cabin filter myself too, since the A/C will need to be running.

Thank you. Car has to go back on Monday. The D5 gear flashes on the dashboard while driving. The bushings also go replaced and one other thing.
Next will be the Timing belt. Must get items on Craigslist to sell for that expense.

Sorry the problems continue.
Dealer should have test driven and debugged the D5 issue before returning it to you. Sounds like $$ is tight - try not to let the TB go too long. You aren't that far over the 105K, but if it should break - suffice to say no good will come from that it could potentially cost thousands more in engine repairs.

Honestly, the dash isn't bright, so you'd have to look for it. The Acura dealership has been good. Yes, I need to find out if I purchased the Timing Belt parts, that were advertised on here, if it would be cheaper then having the small shop doing it. They quoted me when I got the original list $575-700 and I believe the higher cost may have included changing out something else with it.
Acura quoted $942, not I don't know if that includes the labor or not, I think not.

These are TL owners, but it gives you a rough idea of what it can cost.

Hoping everything works out for you.
I found a better DIY for the cabin filter replacement -
/forums/f66/acura-mdx-cabin-dust-pollen-filter-replacement-diy-81767/
I saw the thread on the MDX timing belt kit from Hansel Acura and it seems pretty good. Still amazed at the link I posted prior about Hamilton Honda.
If you want to compare pricing you should reach out to Tim. He is also a vendor here on AZine and I have purchased a bunch of stuff from him. His pricing is very good. Just even for comparison

hmmm. The link won't paste correctly. The AZine site might not like other forum posts
Remove the spaces, copy and paste into your browser and it should work.

You're awesome. I saw the kits for the Timing Belt which I believe Tim posted ? And he had one with the water pump and one without.
These is an awesome site, as I appreciate actual replies to my concerns and questions. I felt very alone in general with this list of repairs to be done and only myself to rely on, but feel I can come here when I have more questions.

I saw that step by step on Acura World. It's a bit intimidating. But I will definately need to have the time and no interuptions. LOL
Is the filter something I pick up at Autozone or do I need to order that too ? I know that all of my postings should be elsewhere.

It wasn't Tim. I think the poster signed his posts as Larry and is affiliated with a different dealer.
This is an awesome site, but I will tell you the MDX section doesn't get nearly the traffic, the TL section does. There is another site that is solely MDX and I can PM that to you if you'd like, but again not nearly the traffic the TL section on AZ gets.
Bring on any and all questions! This site is a wealth of information regardless of you technical ability. There are plenty of knowledgeable folks on this site, but there are plenty of newbies as well. There is lots of advice and plenty of opinions as well. I probably spend too much time on here

I believe this is the one for your MDX -
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=291994
It's a little pricey at $20.89 compared to the $5.82 you can get this one for -
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1308542
There is also a $5.00 rebate / promotion on the first one going on.
I know you are watching you funds so Autozone may be the way to go, unless you can an inexpensive filter on line delivered for less. Again you can ask Tim (or Larry) for a price.
Yes, you probably should starting new thread(s) instead of posting everything in this one. I'm guilty as well but am just responding to you.

Has anyone had 2010 - 2011 MDX Advance Seat Heat Cool switches replaced per SB B11-036 ?
