MDX 05 ...changing passenger side Engine Mount

Hi all.

There is a metallic clunking sound on my 127K MDX. I'm just sure it must be an engine mount.

Question. I'll be doing it myself. Do I need to jack the engine or is it ok to do it without it? Im concerned that it could drop once I remove the engine mount, but perhaps the other two will keep it in place.

Thanks!

the side mount is on the passenger side and EASILY visible.
you will be able to tell if its broken.

please, check or confirm that it is broken before you dive into the install.

also, if the front and rear mount are shot, it will not hold the engine up, when you're trying to replace the side mount.

if you do need to jack up the engine, use a jack and a piece of wooden block and lift at oil pan.

Thanks. I can see the mount but the rubber element has a black cover.

I'll play it safe and jack it up.

funny story, so i replaced my timing belt in my 2006 Acura TL.
however, i Must have damaged a seal and now the car is leaking oil.

last weekend, i went in and decided to perform more surgery on her.

I got my ratchet stuck in-between the frame and a pulley.

now, I have to un-do the front and rear mount to see if the engine has enough play so that I can get my ratchet out!

you'll have to remove the covers and everything else to inspect it.

you simply cannot tell from just looking at it like that.

and here's my stuck ratchet.

The power steering noise during cold weather is killing me though. Had the the inlet o-ring replaced and it still squeeks. I think they may have installed the wrong one.

there are multiple o-rings in the power steering pump.

also, side mount is the first to go.
then front and lastly, but not likely the rear.

that's what I found in my 2006 Acura TL. the side and front were gone, but the rear was still good.

Yeap, it was pretty bad. The inner element was floating completely. What a POS material!
Anyway, if you decide to do yourself:

-need a jack and a wood block to lift the engine slightly to relieve load on mount
-need impact gun with 12" extension
-you will need to loosen the fwd electric fuse box to get access to the top mount bolt

All in all, pretty easy.
