Malfunction Indicator re-set

I have an '04 MDX that the "Malfunction Indicator Light" (note: not the Maintenance Required light) has come on, which is usually attributed to an emissions issue.
Sure enough, my gas cap seal was damaged because the kid at the co-op had tightened it with the cable caught underneath and it tore the rubber.
I have replaced the cap, but the light will not go out, over a week now. How can I reset the indicator myself? I don't want to take it to the dealer for a $100 fee.
I'm confident that there's nothing else wrong, have had regular service and no other issues.
Thx, shovelhead

Go to Autozone and get the code. This will tell you the issue. You could disconnect the battery and reconnect. Somestimes the gas cap thing takes a few weeks to go away on its on.

OK, I'll give it some more time, then try disconnecting the battery. No AutoZone here, but have some alternatives I'll try if need be.

Yea, wherever you can get a free OBD scan. Advance auto parts is another one.
