Issues with a STealership

So I had a stealership replace the leather trim on the dual door center console box because it was not properly seamed, and this is what I get: screwdriver pry marks from the tech trying the tear the console apart, and he doesnt even bother to re-assemble the manual chrome trimmed HVAC control.











If I had known that this would happen, I would have just superglued that leather back on. On top of that, they replaced a headlight because of condensation and chipped the paint on the driver's side bumper...





I have an appt with them on monday to replace my leather seats, (issues with the 07 canadian leather supplier, yes I read it) and let's see what they say in person because the service manager dodged my questions with an "I'll do the best I can..."

Screw drivers (obvious from size of holes) are never specified for use to remove acura trim. In fact, the dealership is required to use the Acura spec'd interior trim removal kit (a series of blades and forks). The dealership should absolutely replace these parts (as they damaged them)-they will file it off as insurance or make the tech eat it.

They were too sloppy handling the bumper. A few screws and alot of clips. Alignment looks a little off as well. This happens when they yank the bumper off a little to agressively in the removal process (the hangers where the mounting clips move a little). A good shop will tweak the hangers a bit-to get it to fit flush. This assumes they did not break or strip some of the mounting clips.

Wow, what a hack! Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to take your car to the dealer to maintain it's warranty. Just need to provide proof that it's had regular maintenance.

I had a CD player replaced and the wood grain plastic piece looked like a drug addict attempted to remove the radio. Since the replacement was done for free just off warranty by a few months I did not pursue the issue. My Daughter has had the car for a year and when I get in the car it is the first thing I see.

Ive pulled the entrie console out of several MDX's and there is little to no evidence that I was ever in there. There is no need to make a mess like that, that appears to be someone using the wrong tools to pop these things apart, a broader trim tool should mar it up even better AC recomends a plastic trim tool which works great. No idea why anyone esp. a dealer tech would use a screwdriver to do this? To many bad techs giving the good one's a bad name.

Hard to believe this is the same Acura that topped the JD Power Customer Satisfaction surveys when it was launched in 1986. Sad that today's stealerships have slid such a long way downhill!

And yet, there are a few stories around these days of dealerships that still provide excellent, over-the-top service . . . seems that those are the ones that will survive in the years to come.
