Goodbye - Adios - It's Been Fun
Longtime poster about to check out as we are going to dump our 2008 MDX. We now have 125k miles and facing about 2 grand in routine maintenance and new tires, so it's time to cut bait. I have been very disappointed in the Honda built quality - leather seats that cracked after a couple of years, plastic interior parts breaking off, not to mention all kinds of repairs. Not what I expected from Honda.
So I am back to German cars (yes they are even more expensive to maintain but at least they drive nice). Best of luck to everyone.

I am a firm believer in " if you take care of the car, the car will take care of you"
Hopefully not the case, but it sounds like you fell behind on maintenance.
Best of luck with the new whip!

Who buys a car and sell it when the 105K Services Comes up? DAMN I wish I had your economy...
But well I know how to maintain my cars so no 2K Bill for me, Entire Timing Belt job for my MDX cost me -350 bucks on parts only.

Actually guys I maintain my car meticulously. Here's how you get to $2k for routine maintenance with an MDX: $500 for A13 service, $500 for new spark plugs (120k service) and $1000 for 4 new tires & alignment. Again, all routine stuff but given the history of expensive oil leaks (gaskets and such) I am sure there is another expensive repair around the corner. Not to mention some touch up paint on fenders that will run $100s more ($1000s if I go to body shop).
So yes, $2k would be great if it would cover me for a year (excluding oil changes). But I now know from experience that's just the beginning as parts start to break once cars go over 100k. Next time dump by 90k!
