ATF change for 2008 MDX

I want to change the ATF on my 2008 MDX myself, but am not sure where to locate the drain and refill bolts. Has anyone done it on a 2008 MDX? It would be helpful to see picture or illustration. If I get this done, I am going to do a write up for the garage section.

It's pretty much the same as the 1.5G MDX. Basically, 3/8" drive ratchet to remove drain bolt on the bottom, drain, then refill either through the top filler bolt (requires intake tube to be removed) or dipstick.

Majofo, what you stated seems very similar to changing ATF for the 3G TL, whose ATF I just changed a few days ago. I'll be getting it done on my next weekend off and post some pictures.

I am assuming you guys use Honda ATF right, is not like there is a separate Acura ATF brand?

I referenced this thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/c-026-diy-changing-atf-pics-745892/) when I changed the MDX's ATF. It's very similar.

Some tools that you will need:
  1. 17mm socket (for untighten the refill bolt)
  2. 17 inches of extension (at least) to remove the refill bolt
  3. A breaker bar with 3/8" drive to remove drain plug and refill bolt.
  4. Long funnel
I started draining the ATF before loosening the refill bolt to save a bit of time. The volume of ATF drained from the vehicle was 3.75 qt after about 1 hour of draining. I had a bottle with volume levels marked prior to starting this job. The vehicle was on the ground.

I removed the plastic panel below the transmission because I didn't want ATF to drip on it, but you might get away without removing it. It is secured to the SUV by three screws and three plastic clips.

The washer for both the refill bolt and the drain plug were reused. There was no leakage observed a few hours after completion.

The refill bolt has the acronyms "ATF" embossed on it and white paint painted over it. See picture below for location.

ATF level was checked per instruction in owner's manual.

Total time spent was about 1 hour, leisurely.

Pix 1. General location of the fill bolt looking at the engine bay head on (green arrow)

Pix 2. Location of fill bolt looking down directly above engine bay (green circle). The bolt has "ATF" stamped on top and painted with white/off white paint.

Pix 3. Drain plug location.

Easy

Just did mine today - was going to do a 3x flush, but quite honestly, the fluid coming out the first time didn't look much different than the new - so left it at 2x. Thanks to all here for the help!
