2G asking prices
My wife and I decided it is time to part with our 04. So I am looking at '10-'12's and may buy out of state as priced are way high around here. My question is what is the typical asking price vs. paid price on one of these? I am considering a base or tec.
The tech model is the sweet spot. There are little to no changes from the 10-13 models other than price and greystone interior option for the +12. Might need let us know the mileage range for us because that might have one of the biggest factors in price. You might find a lot around the 100k mark and my theory is folks didn't want to do the 100k service for around $800-$1200 and traded the MDX.
Any specific trim of MDX? I'll post values for you
Most likely base. But generally looking at 2010-2012 with 40-60k miles.
Also what would our 2004 sell for private party. Recent maintenance includes new radiator, rear main seal, tranny flush, lower control arms and new battery. Has very minor rust. Interior is in great shape. I believe it is touring model with dvd system.

Have you checked into CarMax? The prices are a little higher; but, they only keep the top quality cars and they can buy your old MDX to put down as a down payment. Another advantage is they can ship the MDX from another location if there something with a better color combo or less mileage at another CarMax. I did a quick search and there are 36, 10-12 MDX, base or Tech version, $25,000 to $32,000, all under 60,000 miles in the CarMax inventory.
Go to Blackbook for the auction values, in your state.

then

then scroll to
Blackbook.
The dealer won't give you the auction price, but you'll know what the retail mark up is.
Carmax is $4 - 5,000 mark up, because they offer a very good aftermarket warranty, on non-wear items. But it's not as good as AcuraCare.

Took car to carmax Friday offered $2k laughed and left. Put it on CL sold it today guy came from 3hrs away gave me 5k. Buying a '13 base Monday CPO from dealership with 40k miles on it.
Good job! If Carmax won't sell it on their lot (anything over 6 years old typically), they'll offer less than auction price. Which I guess is fair since they spend time and money to take it to a wholesale auction. A little bit of your time was worth the additional $3k.
