2012 back up camera

I'm sure this has been discussed, but the lighting for the rear camera is absolutely horrible at night. It seems much worse than my 08, and is so inferior to the camera on my 535 that it is essentially unusable. The brightness is turned up all the way, and I replaced the reverse lights with Silverstars, no improvement. The SA says many, many complaints.

I know we should all know how to back up, but a little help from the camera would be nice.

Has anyone filed a complaint with Acura, or figured out a fix?

Mine is completely useless at night. This is the first vehicle I've had with the camera so I just assumed they were all like that.

I wouldn't say useless but exterior lighting -- of any kind -- does help quite a bit.

Although this may seem like a silly question, but is it clean?

For a while, I felt like the back up camera wasn't all that impressive. Then my wife borrowed my car to visit some relatives and brought it back filthy because they live on gravel roads. I couldn't see through the camera at all even in daylight. So I cleaned it off myself and it was better than ever before. Cleaning plus adjusting the brightness has it working great now.

There was a thread here (use the search function) about people with 2010+MDXs using Cree LED bulbs to replace the stock reverse light bulbs. I just did that myself and it shows marginal improvement. Still not good but at least I can see a little near to the car. For $18 for two bulbs, I guess I'm OK with this partial solution.

What we really need is to have the reverse lights located closer to the ground rather than mounted as high as they are. Too bad.

popped in some silverstars, no improvement. Talked with dealer, told frequent complaint. Filed complaint with NHTSA.
When I take it in for first service I'll have them replace camera to see if that helps.
Maybe the gov. complaint will initiate a TSB. Seems to me that Acura tried to save some money and went with a camera with poor light sensitivity.
It really isn't a big issue, but it truly is worthless when you need it most.
