2011 MDX New OEM Key Programming?

I was hoping someone here knows how to do this:

My remote on key “driver 1” broke. I ordered a new driver 1 key from the dealer. The dealer wants a ton of money just to program the new driver 1 key and remote to my 2011 MDX. Is there a way I can program this myself? I want to make sure the new remote and key are programmed to my vehicle for “driver 1”.

Looks like you have to go to a dealer for this. Check this thread below

another one not for MDX but similar

Sure! You don't have to cut a new key, you can reuse the existing one, just replacing the keyfob.

Here are two videos on this, the first one is the entire keyfob replacement video, and the second one is just a short version with programming only and some tricks:

If you can find a local locksmith to cut the key so it turns you can save a lot of money and do it at home if you are comfortable taking apart the switchblade key.

Pretty much disassemble it (tons of videos on youtube) and cut out the immobilizer chip. Repeat on the new key and superglue your old chip into the new key.

Programming the lock/unlock is easy and takes a few mins. Youtube video's on it too.

Bought 2 of these https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/...Id=32965245405
Good quality but without the trunk release for my 2011 MDX. Dealer had to cut and program, cost was $50 ca plus tax.
