But in all seriousness, your engine oil is thicker than molasses at those temps. Lubrication = very poor. I think Marge is referring to wearing your piston rings and/or scoring the cylinder walls, resulting in lost compression amongst other shit.

That while mdx thing seems odd to me. Clearly not a common thing to happen... When I had my accord back in the day, I had to always park outside and I never had problems, regardless of the weather... Although I think I generally plugged the block heater in below -25C. Too long ago to remember.

Well considering she started within the first 7 seconds, I'm just going to write it off as nothing, especially since its really -40 with the windchill, air temp is actually -22.

Windchill won't affect the engine... You're fine.

Plug your damn car in.

Yeah this is the first time Toronto has seen this kind of brutality from mother nature in a while (although last winter's ice storm comes to mind). Definitely going to be getting a block heater

scored a wall or two.. that aluminum wall yo! It sounds like it was just sluggish to turn.. I'm sure you're absolutely fine. There's an inexpensive pan heater that you can use if it really gets cold. Like $20-30.

Yeah I'm definitely not worried - My parents' Mitsubishi Endeavor with 160k miles on it though ... I'm wondering if my dad actually managed to get it started lol. Although the engine in that thing has been an absolute champ

Toronnah FTW...I love that city.

Not sure why so many Canadians have a hate-fest for there. It's a great city. Stop being jealous if their city is second-rate.

Vancouver and Montreal are also up there for awesome metropolises.

I haven't visited Van but its definitely on my bucket list - Maybe in the summer

Montreal is always fun, but T.O. has my heart - Maybe its that we moved here when I was 7 from Ukraine (and seeing the kind of shitfest that's going on back there right now) but I love this city

Van City > Toronto..

I'm biased though

Toronto is fun, I can only take so many days of it though.. Van is a nice mix, lots of and good eats, plus the outdoors mang! Ugh.. If moved to any Canadian city, it would be Van City. Yummy too.. because the AM density in Van City is higher than any other.

Climate is better too, that's for sure - Only real drawback is its even MORE expensive than T.O, and that's saying something. With my shitty ass job and my second bout of University coming up, I'm really glad I'm still living with my folks (or that they're willing to let me stay with them for that matter lol)

Markham is not bad for the stuff, to be honest. But, yeah...nothing beats Vancouver for food I think. It's probably up there on the planet and not just North America.

So here's a silly question for you guys - not sure if its worth starting a new thread over.

I need to go pick up my A-Spec kit in Niagara tomorrow and I'm wondering if its going to fit IN my TL lol. Thoughts? I mean I'll be bring it over without the packaging, so would the skirts fit in the trunk and the front and back lip fit in the cabin?

Also Toronto is shit. Anyone who disagrees is a doodoo head. Vancouver is where it's at.

Vancouver > Montreal > Toronto in terms of cities. Also Winnipeg and Calgary aren't even making the list. But at the bottom of that list that's not a list, there's Regina, because there's hardly shittier than Regina. Truest story.

But I agree with PB... Toronto... That's almost as embarrassing to Canada as Edmonton is.

Medicine Hat > Hobema First Nations reserve > Guantanamo Bay > Toronto > Edmonton.

It's actually been studied and proven that 67% of Toronto's population is inbred. How fucked up is that. The rest are immigrants from Ukraine. Not sure which is worse...

Put down the bong, dude. Toronto is an amazing city. Prior to getting married, I went there at least 1-2 times a year to visit...loved it each time.

Reminded me of what a true metropolis is. Great arts center. Great restaurants. Great downtown. Great public transit system.

When almost every major head office decided to flee Edmonton and move to Calgary...that had to be a sign.

The Sears CEO once said you could fire a cannonball into downtown during "rush hour" and not hit anyone...sad, but true. The city planners did a horrid job building up that part of town. And now, some billionaire owner of a 3rd rate hockey team has held the city hostage and is asking tax-payers to help fund his new play-building.

That MAY help spruce up the downtown. But, gotta love how the $$$ is being spent there.

You're good at reading peoples opinions... But not much fact behind that.

3rd rate team? Yes. But a team's "goodness" goes up and down. Keep in mind that the oilers still hold many nhl records and no one else in the the last 50 years has won as many cups. Yup, they blow. But not for always. This stuff goes up and down. Please, remind me how many times Vancouver has won the cup. They're better than Edmonton? Sure. Doesn't mean shit if they can't make it past the first round in the playoffs

Billionaire holding us hostage? As you know, the rich just get richer. How's that different than anywhere else? He has spurred the downtown growth big time. He is cashing In on that arena, but because of that, our downtown has put up about 15+ new towers in the last little bit with new ones still being built. The city is also in the process of approving another 18+ Building permits for new towers. It's not as bad as you think. Some serious growth has been spurred.

It also didn't help that we had a downtown airport where planes would have to come in over the buildings to land. It put a major halt on downtown growth, but the airport has been closed. And those airport lands are now going to be developed into some major growth as well.

Much of the existing downtown sucks, looking like east communist Germany with all the concrete buildings, but that was the late 70s and early 80s for you. It's changing though.

Companies didn't leave Edmonton for calgary. They avoided Edmonton for Calgary, back in the day, for many reasons. Calgary has better airport connections, it's closer to the US, lack of commercial downtown space in Edmonton, etc, but that too is changing- Edmonton airport is getting more and more direct flights. And new buildings. A billionaire chose Edmonton and not calgary for a reason. Where's the opportunity at?

Still do not believe in having tax dollars going to fund some arena. Not someone else's opinion; it's mine.

As for the revival you're talking about, well, great. Let's just hope that the oil "crisis" recovers enough so that by the time this revival is complete in 5-10 years, Edmonton can take advantage of it instead of going oh-snap and looking at a pile of empty "shiny" buildings.
