You know Frantz, I have a lot of anxiety about the future, economy, job stability, etc. I realized that I worry too much and today is enough to worry about.

I will say, the V is an amazing car, but it's not like I've gone from a Pinto to Bentley. The TL is a fantastic ride. The handling is top notch and has great steering feel and enough power to pass most people on the highway but not enough to get you in trouble. It's one of the safest rides on the highway and has saved my ass numerous times from idiot drivers. I'm talking incidents where any other car, I probably would have wrecked. And if I'm being honest.. the body is timeless. 3G TL is still a hot car.

Fuuuu... I'm at work for 7am today. What an oddity. Why the hell am I here so early, when the work day doesn't officially start until 8:30

Maj, you brought a tear to my eyes with your gentlemanly words. Such words have never been spoken about an Acura... at least in the last 10 years

I'm done with the days of working 10-14 hours a day, 6-7 days a week and getting no fucking recognition for it. I enjoy my 35 hour work weeks now (40 hours on a really busy week, LOL). After moving around a bit, I think I've found the place I intend on working for/with for years to come now. I've got it good here, but that's not to say I haven't done my fair share of shit work!

A car is a car. But I think I get emotionally attached to a lot of cars.. the TL being no exception. I remember picking her up in '08.. felt like a million bucks.. until the trans ate it on the ride home.

I battled the dealer for what seems like a month. Finally got him to cough up 2Gs (I paid 1k on top of it) for a replacement trans.. I bought her for 11.5k (market value at the time was like ~21k).. I'm fucking ruthless..

You can imagine the deal I got on the V.
Also.. 1.75% financing.. shiettt.

I still slave.. work all day pretty much, probably why I spend so much time here.. What if I spent no time here and focused on work?

Nah.. anyways.. even though I work a lot during the week. I love my job.. there are some great perks too. Best of all is my work culture. I work with some great people.. most have a humble attitude. The company is pretty big, but the CEO even came to my cube and we jammed out for a while. The next day he almost ran me over in his Bentley CGT.

A good company with good people goes such a long way. Good to hear you enjoy where you are, as money doesn't buy happiness in such a situation. A shitty work environment isn't worth going to for even double your current pay.

Some of my previous jobs I would absolutely loathe going into work. Working with stupid people always made the day feel like it was painfully dragging on. Glad I dont have to deal with that shit anymore.

I have a friend who just jumped ship. The company she was working at has a similar work culture as the one I'm at. The company she jumped to is a more stressful work environment and only hires top experienced engineers with a decent resume. They probably gave her 30k more, but for that 30k, they have very high expectations. It's nice when you can work from home when you need, come in whenever, leave whenever, good group, etc. That stuff is priceless.. when you need to be in before your boss, can't leave until your boss leaves, open to be berated, not family friendly.. well.. fuck that.

dat financing rate.

That's the whole problem with me, I like to buy my cars cash, fucking financing even with a low interest rate, makes me feels like you're never owning whatever you're buying. Paid the TL cash like all my other cars before, which essentially just means I have enough patience to save up for a car. I realize it's not a luxury everybody can or wants to afford though.

Cash is good.. I would have put a lot more down on the V but I have a feeling that cash is more important now than ever. You need it to make moves. With that rate.. I'm barely paying 1k over the life of the loan. Yep.

Prus.. if everything works out okay (economy wise).. I can payoff early.

Well it depends on what you're buying. If you're getting into a 10 year old car, pay cash, no biggie.

If you're getting into a new or newer 40k car, it's a different story. It takes a lot of people a very long time to save up 40k, especially if they have kids. And if so, most would spend the money on family stuff than a personal vehicle.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume Maj paid no where near 40k. I bet you the number of people who can pay 20+k cash for a car these days is incredibly small.

It's so difficult to let go of cash when you have it..
Maybe it's just a thing.. but I'm pretty sure anyone responsible feels the same.

Cash for the V came out of the GT-R fund.. I was still years off on the GT-R.

ah, with a bit of planning, foresite and self education, taking out a loan isn't necessarily a bad thing. the in Maj is high.

Although if he was a true , he'd be driving a 2 year old base model Camry.

Very well said

I have a Pinto Type S though

I still love my 3G. The wise thing to do would be to keep it forevs so I'll stick to that plan. It'll be me and J left rocking 3G TLs in 2026. I'll certainly have a garage queen by then though.

Money, while tempting, doesn't always make up for the rest of the shit that comes with it. I could probably make more doing my job elsewhere but I work with great people, have excellent benefits/flexibility, and I've built a ton of relationships here in my 10 years that would be hard to replicate in a new place.

Not just an thing. It takes hard work and time to save money. Spending it all just requires a few signatures on a piece of paper and 5 minutes of time I do much considering before spending.

Yeah that rate is good and hardly impacts the money you're going to put on the car. Used cars personal loans are ~11% at best... So on a $10K loan you end up paying $3K in interest. No thanks.

Point to me someone who needs a $40K car to carry their kids.

Got your priorities wrong if you think of a car before your kids, as you said.

You're right Taco.. but life is short. My buddy was diagnosed stage 3 lung cancer. He just texted me 2 days ago that his scan came back clean and is in remission. Some family friends of mine just passed.. early 40s. You think you're invincible when you're a teenager through your 20s. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, nerve / spine / joint issues.. not even on the radar. Shits real yo!

Life is short indeed. You never know when your last day will be here. Best to live like every day is your last. My best friend since I was 11 has had cancer 3 times. (Testicular, Lung, brain tumor) First round of it was at age 21. Another good friend of mine OD in October of 2013.

'Twas great times for going shoppin' in the US. But you guys printed more bills and sent more bonds to other countries and the banks owe more to each other so it's working out... or something.
