Why'd you use a foot long extension on your axle nut? I mean, on CP it's for clearance but you lose tons of torque when you put an extension in, no?
Anyway...so you're Automatic, which limits my experience a little on where things can be leaking. I had a leak onto an axle, but it was passenger side and it was the power steering pump hose that is tightened down with a screw fitting thing...he hose had deteriorated over time and I was able to just tighten down the screw a touch, and it stopped the leak.
That is quite odd...doesn't look thick/dirty enough to be axle grease to me. Any drunken night oil changes where you just poured the quarts over the whole engine assembly and forgot about it?
It looks limited to the axle, more or less but the fact that it's all over it leads me to think it's being dripped ON and soaking into it rather than it being the source.
I'd say do plan A...banjo and hose...clean everything else off and reinspect in a few. If it ain't broke, you know you might run into further issues that might never present themselves if you leave the axles as is. Plus, you already broke the axle nuts...now, if you had to revisit to do the axles down the line, it'd be an easy job...AND you can return the axles and get your money back.

I might go plan A and replace filter, hose, and fittings. Clean things down and check again.

..and I'm not driving a 4 banger unless it has a hufe fucking hair dryer bolted to it.
btw.. I PM'd Gus (04wdp) and he's like.. shiett.. could be from anywhere. He gave me some good tips to clean it down and spray some foot powder then take it for a short spin to see all the points where it may be leaking and rule out blowback.
This leak check might be a blessing because I have an inside sidewall rub on the tire.. so much rubbed off on a quarter of the tire, that it's almost down to the wire. I wouldn't have been able to tell otherwise without removing the wheel since there's a lot of tread overall. I'm not sure how it happened, but getting the rubber replaced regardless.

Me either. The comments to the video seem to indicate that flex is less with the welded unit. Really interesting that it made a difference.

Yes...just keep this first post of the thread handy and you'll be just fine. Getting the timing covers off proves challenging.

I had my first experience with the timing belt/water pump back in 2006 when I was going to college to become a mechanic, on my 98 Civic that I used to own and now that I think of it, I did the valve adjustments with the timing belt but I had the help of my friends in class too so it made the process faster.
My Aisin timing belt kit just came in a few days ago too so I'm ready to tackle this next week!

^^^^^ Yup, TB on day 1 and valves on day 2. That way at least you have a little time for the scabs on your hands and forearms to solidify before starting on the valves

ECRD on here did my TB last night. He knows his stuff and yes he's is very quick, accurate and has all necessary tools.... and then some. If you are in NY/NJ and need any work done I highly recommend.
