Trunk button

I have discovered that the button on my trunk does not work. The release inside the car works. The button on the key fob works. I double checked that I had unlocked all teh doors and still nothing.

Is this a fuse issue or something else?

All the doors need to be unlocked before you can use the button on the trunk.

I did that. Even opened one door (rear driver) and shut it to make sure I had not re-locked.

I had a similar thing happen. Not sure what caused it but, after I reset the battery for 30 min it fixed itself. I literally have no clue what it was, the fuses were all good too.

Good to hear this was an easy fix.

FYI- Trunk release button on the fob works even when the car is locked.

Hello,

I'm glad the original poster solved his problem with the valet switch. For others who might have a problem with their trunk release...

My 2005 TL's trunk release became intermittent. When I pressed either the dash button or the key fob button, the release made no sound. I suspected an electrical problem.

After ensuring that valet switch in the glove compartment was ON, the owner of an electrical shop advised me to lubricate the release mechanism before doing any electrical troubleshooting. I didn’t think that would work, because there was no indication that there was any power to the release; but I tried lubrication anyway.

I filled all the cavities of the release with white lithium grease, and worked the mechanism back and forth many times.

To my surprise, that solved the problem. Now, the trunk opens every time.

Good luck!
