2010 Formula One Fantasy League

Rules for the 2010 Acurazine Formula One Fantasy League:

Rules:

1. You must pick 1 driver which you think will win the Drivers Championship at the end of the season. Selection must be posted in this thread no later than March 11, 2010.

2. You must pick 1 team that you think will win the Constructors Championship at the end of the season. Selection must be posted in this thread no later than March 11, 2010.

3. For each race weekend, you must post one Driver and one Team as your picks for the event in that events respective thread before Saturday Practice begins for that event. The Driver you pick does not have to be from the Team that you also pick for the event.

4. You can only choose the same driver 3 times for the entire season. This is different from 2009, where you could choose the same driver until he achieved 3 wins as your pick during the season. Similarly, you can only choose the same team 3 times for the entire season.

5. Points calculation will be as follows: Drivers picked for the event will receive points as classified by the FIA after the race results are confirmed. Teams picked for the event will receive 1/2 points as classified by the FIA after the race results are confirmed. (Even if the race finishes prematurely and the FIA issues 1/2 points, we will still award full points for the purpose of this competition.)

6. At the end of the season 25 points will be awarded to those that correctly selected the Driver's Champion at the beginning of the season.

7.At the end of the season 25 points will be awarded to those that correctly selected the Constructors Champion at the beginning of the season.

Just to give an example to any new participants, at the beginning of the season, I might pick Sebastien Vittel as drivers champion and Force India as constructors champion, but every race weekend I can pick any driver and any team in the field to a maximum of 3 times throughout the season.

Example of points calculation for a Grand Prix event:
I choose Rosberg as my driver and Red Bull as my team. At the end of the race, the FIA posts the confirmed finish as Rosberg finishing 2nd, which collects him 18 points, and Red Bull cars finishing in 6th and 7th places, collecting that team 14 points. My total awarded points for that weekend would be [driver points]+[team points]/2=[18]+[14]/2=25.

Also if everyone that participates sends me there email address, I will send out an email to everyone before each race weekend as a reminder so we have fewer instances of forgetting to make picks.

Goodluck to all participants!

I'd love to, but if I do it won't be for the race. If I do go to Montreal, it'll be for the parties. I don't know if the wife will approve spending that much money on tickets, especially given that we're going to Italy in August.

You're making your way up again this year?

like others say, it's a toss up.

mcclaren and hamilton for the championship.

vettel to win this weekend.

I think Hamilton has left his bad luck in 2009, ms will struggle for a couple races and possibly dominate or suck.

With the new points structure I'm not sure that the drivers and constructors championship winners can be from different teams. That said I'll pick Alonso/Ferrari

Precisely why I don't think Red Bull will win WC

Renault lodges engine change request

By Jonathan Noble Friday, March 12th 2010, 07:47 GMT

Red Bull RenaultRed Bull Racing's title hopes could be boosted if engine supplier Renault is given the green light to make modifications to its power unit that have been lodged for FIA approval, AUTOSPORT has learned.

Although Formula 1 operates under an engine freeze, the Renault power plant has fallen behind competitors over recent seasons as its rivals have made minor tweaks to their power units.

Engine performance was supposed to be equal, but it is now believed the spread of horsepower between the manufacturers could be as much as 30bhp.

Red Bull Racing chiefs have made no secret over the winter that they hoped engine performance could be equalised this year - and sources have revealed that moves have now been made by Renault to do so.

AUTOSPORT understands that Renault has written to the FIA to request a series of improvements to be made to its RS27 power unit on both reliability and cost reduction grounds. A team source said that this application was made under the 'fair and equitable' grounds that are laid out in F1's regulations for modifications.

Although the improvements have been requested for reliability and cost reduction reasons, it is likely that such improvements would bring performance benefits too.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner declined to comment about the situation in Bahrain, but he did admit in the build-up to the weekend that something needed to be done.

"There is an issue with the engines and it would be a great shame if, under the engine freeze, engine performance is going to dictate the championship," he said. "Renault need to find a solution and quickly."

Engines let them down too often last year.

there's another thread for this weekends pick to go in. We make a new thread for each races picks, and another for comments. It helps keep it clean for whomever is tallying the points for the year.

Can I get a rule clarification? We can only pick a driver three times throughout the season, how many times can we pick a team?

Ohh and F-C, love what you are doing here!
