Some people are hoping to play and win the lawsuit lottery game. I'm not sure what you mean by 'trying to contact'. Who you need to contact and what happens after that are all documented in this thread. What could be easier than;

1. Send an email.
2. Receive an email in return that has a Word attachment.
3. Fill the Word doc in and return it.
4. Receive mirror
5. Install mirror.
6. Return old mirror in the same box. MG pays for return shipping.

My mirror that leaked just dripped the stuff onto my shifter plate without any corrosion, but I did clean it up quickly. Ironically, this happened while it was in for tranny rebuild at 140K. Old mirror had grey plug and new one from MD has blue plug.
By the way, I am feeling fine. Scary stuff about the poisons, but I guess I was lucky mine didn't explode.
New tranny (bench-rebuilt at Cottman instead of bolting on an Acura reman.) and new mirror are both working like new.

I don't think anyone has actually confirmed the mirror explodes, so it's a poor choice of words. Liquid dripping from the mirror and hitting the center console would splash on the seats.

Does the mirror have to start leaking before we request a replacement? I would rather change it before then after.

Mine just barely started to bubble when I asked for a replacement. I took the mirror out of the car as soon as I heard about this problem, and it's gotten 10x worse in a matter of days.

If you're not having problems with bubbling they probably won't replace it though. Email Dani though, the worst she can do is say no.

Just email her the make and model of your car, they've already got everything filled out that you'll need. All you have to do is put in your VIN.

I got a replace mirror from Magna Donnelly a few months back but I'm having a problem with it. If I have the auto switch engaged, the mirror will always dim. If I do not have the switch engaged, it will be normal. It seems to have a problem sensing the light around it. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Got anything hanging from the mirror, like a parking permit? The front and back of the mirror each have sensors (small, circular marks) that sense the ambiant light and adjust the mirror accordingly. If something is blocking them, the mirror wont work.

addition to my 00 TL with faulty mirror, my other 02 TL's mirror is working just fine, should I request my 02's mirror to be replaced as well?

had my 02's mirror replaced once when i purchased the vehicle 5 years ago, the mirror itself just can not hold up well.

What do you mean it 'can not hold up well'? And since it's been replaced once, why do you think you should get another one for free? They don't come with a lifetime warranty.

CAN NOT HOLD UP WELL translate to the looseness of the mirror Mike, this happen during the 1st month when I purchased my 02 TL-S back in 01. whenever i drove around bumpy road or a speed bump the mirror keeps shift to downard position.

Talking Good Service

I e-mailed Dani and she sent the form to me via e-mail. I filled it out and faxed it back to her and had the replacement mirror on my doorstep within days. I am gonna get it installed and send the old one back to her like she said.

If you are having a problem, just contact Dani and she will take care of you.

Talking Instructions For Removal

After installing the mirror myself, I realized how easy it was and figured I would make a mini DIY for the install. Hope the directions are clear and easy.

First, take the two plastic clips off of the mirror.

Take a flathead screwdriver or something else thin and flat and pry off the cover over the dome map lights.

Take out the two screws that are right next to the bulbs on either side.

Open the sunglass holder and remove the two screws from in there. It should come down pretty easily and all you have to do is unplug the one wire from the maplight/sunglass holder fixture.

Then, unplug the mirror from the quick connect and take it off. Sort of rock the mirror back and forth while pulling down towards the dash/hood and parallel to the glass. If it isn't going easy you can take something and hit the mirror (on the frame of the mirror) in the same direction.

Once you get the mirror off, slide the wire through the opening and take it out. Repeat the process in reverse order for installation. Just slide the mirror up onto the clip, attach the wire. Attach the wire from the maplight/sunglass holder fixture and screw the 4 screws back in (2 in sunglass holder and 2 right next to maplight bulbs). Snap back in the maplight cover. Attach the two plastic clips to the mirror, and enjoy!

Thanks for the DIY help!

I have to install the replacement mirror that Magna Donnelly sent me. Between your post and the others in this thread, the installation should go smoothly.

This might help.

03CoupeV6 wrote the following on Page 4 of this thread:

"Okay all 99-03 TLs use the SAME mirror. Part number 76400-S0K-A01ZA."

But I suppose it's possible that they improved the design but kept the same part number. That would be bad practice but it's possible.

Im sorry if this was already posted in the thread, but if you have tint on your rear window could it keep your mirror from self dimming? I have 20% and I cannot tell a difference when a truck gets on my ass.

the mirror dims based on how bright it is outside. The easiest way to tell if it's still working is to block the light sensor on the back during the day so the mirror is tricked into thinking it's night. The mirror should dim, then brighten back up when you unblock the sensor.

Also, if you've got parking passes or things hanging from the mirror, these will also block the sensor and the mirror will be perpetually dimmed unless you switch it off

Lightbulb Warning! Replacing the Mirror- Do not hit hard as to break the windshield

Hi Guys,
Just a warning while replacing the mirror!!. Do not hit too hard to release it. Hard luck for me. I broke the windshield while replacing it. I hit slightly on the mirror to release it and while doing it broke the windshield. If you can not do it own your own, take it to the dealer. That's my piece of advise. Anyone know a place to install and buy the OEM windshields? I live in CT. Thanks.

I emailed Dani last week, got my new mirror in a few days and replaced it myself. The mirror is attached to the windshield with a small metal clip (2cm wide and 4cm long). I wiggled it while pulling down. I don't think tapping it is a good idea. Sorry to hear your windshield cracked sabcd2004.

Ouch!

I appreciate the warning. I'll be extra careful when I replace my mirror.
