Windshield weights:

Non-OEM non acoustic glass front: 32lbs
OEM glass rear: 13.5lbs

3/16" Lexan front: ~18lbs (still need to cut final piece
1/8" Lexan rear: 5.2lbs

Projected weight loss: ~22 lbs depending on the weight of the front piece. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Very nice work, rear looks mean.

Good thing there is no tailpipe coming out of the rear or I'd be tempted to show it some loving.

I would almost say cut that section out that connects the shock towers and get a bar made that bolts to top of shock towers, but not really necessary.

I've thought about it, maybe this winter I'll look into it.

Front windshield is almost done as well, weighed in at about 15 lbs so that makes about a 25 lbs weight reduction total. Although I will need a support beam in the center of the windshield so that will lessen the overall total.

close enough to done for a progress pic! It's amazing how much faster you get at fab'ing stuff when you have more experience.

In some ways your TL is more extreme then the TLX GT racecar.

Gonna repost Hardrace parts info for you here, plus other 3g owners will see it since none come over to 2g section.

Hardrace Front Upper Control Arms for 04-08 TSX, 03-07 Accord, & 04-08 TL.

Hardrace Front Camber Kit 04-08 Acura TSX / 03-07 Accord - JDM Honda Parts USA

More parts listed on their UK site under 03-07 Accord. I can't confirm all fit since I have a 2nd gen cl, but most should.

Honda

Here is their global website. I emailed them with part numbers I wanted and they ordered for me.

HARDRACE GLOBAL

Here is my "pile o junk" so far. Removed my center console and the remaining door trims. Windows are next, then the dash.

Also need to figure out how im going to do my exhaust, the bendable peice of my atlp j-pipe has a hole in it. Was thinking straight pipeing it behind the front passenger wheel.

I have the same plan as you for my TL.

good work, I wish I still had the "easy" weight to lose. Windows are next, as in Lexan?

Building a track car then? Be careful with the exhaust exit, most racing organizations require/recommend the exhaust to exit aft of the drivers seating position for safety.

Yes auto track car haha. Im pretty sure nasa requires exit aft of the driver, have to look that up, if so ill just measure it out.

Also just the door windows for the time being.

Being a auto it holds gears very well thru the turns surprisingly. My buddys wanted to do yhe 24 hour lemons with it. But i dont think i can get a decent cage put it at the moment.

Were basically going to be looking at a crap ton of aero, theres a focus that runs at miller, TT3 car and he destroys that class by 5 seconds.

24 hours of Lemons has a $500 vehicle cost limit doesn't it?

you're going to need a very healthy amount of hp in addition to the aero to be competitive in TT3 with 5AT TL, just saying... If you can afford to build it and run it, go for it I guess. Looking at the NASA Utah results... looks like a TTB build would be a more fitting class for you guys. A lot less aero allowed, but more likely to be competitive.

Thats what my friends all run in is TTB. Is it a $500 limit? hmm damn. I think were going to do acouple Aero, and reclass into TTE, well try to. If i run in TTB there is no chance of my being competitive at all haha.

Good luck reclassing back to TTE, I'm pretty sure that's where the TL falls for a baseline in TT. If you won't be competitive in TTB, there's little chance of ever being competitive in TT3 without spending big big money. I'd get very familiar with the NASA rule book and look at your lap times compared to what's winning in different TT classes and try to build the car for that class specifically, if possible.

There have been a couple track oriented 5AT guys thru the years and most have found that they eat brakes like nothing else so be ready for that.

Making a focus fast for a specific class is much easier than making an auto tl fast for a specific class.

For class racing you are better off just watching other competitors and seeing what car is best for a specific class. Then buy that car and mod it specifically for that class.

Starting off with an auto tl and trying to class it will be much more difficult.

Yes lemons is $500 limit.

Hmm I see cutouts in Headlight for intake, new tow strap, and new mounting for front splitter. Am I missing anything?

What is that piece in middle of splitter with all the holes in it?

Keep up the work. Good luck on your track day.

Missing anything? what amount the missing bottom half of the OEM bumper?!

The piece in the middle mounts to the 3 bolts the OEM air dam mounted to. Basically it's the backbone of the splitter's mouting hardware.

Here's the next round of teaser pics for the new front end project I've just finished.

Lol how did I miss that. Assumed bumper was removed.

I think your TL has been kidnapped, it has duck tape covering it's mouth. How will it breathe!!

Gonna cut holes for tow strap and brake ducting?

What is that sheet made of and where did you get it?

On a side note are you running an oil or power steering cooler, can't remember.

It's the OEM power steering cooler. Oil cooler will happen....someday...

Sheet is 1/8" ABS from Speedway Motors. Great material and easy to work with. An 18" x 10' sheet is 20 bucks.

Hmmm.... how will it breathe???? maybe like this? Would this work well?

That is more or less the finished product, I added a curved piece of sheet metal to direct air directly up to the radiator. She should breathe like an Olympian now.
