One of my friend just totaled his car (not his fault) and he will leave to NY for a school next August. He basically needs to get a car for about 11 months.
What should he do?
I told him he should just find a cheap used car and resell it. He wants to spend about $5K for it. Which car is good for that price range?

To be honest, I'd spend 10k on tires at Discount Tire, before I'd spend $5 on tires at Canadian Tire
They're known as Crappy Tire, amongst other, slightly racist names around here
Personally, I'm a big fan of Costco. Excellent customer service, tires are cheaper than most, if not all other places around here and I know one of the techs working in the back and he claims nothing shady happens in the back. The odd dropped rim happens once in a blue moon, or whatever, but if it does, they let the owner know and ask them how they want to proceed (they try to push wheel refinishing before replacement, but it all depends). It's nice they fess up to it rather than just try and hide it.
I must have bought a dozen sets of tires from Costco over the years and I've never once had a problem.

been around for a long time and very well known (except to you )
Considering some of the incentives they "seller" is giving out, it is pretty good for the type of car you can find on there.
Or if you friend wants to go cheap, then he can always get a $1500 civic to drive for 11 months.

He had his Lexus GS for a long time. Not really a car guy. He's an investment banker.

I initially said its not a TERRIBLY fast car - which is accurate. That was my point
And no I am not trying to humble brag a 2009 335i with 63k miles.

I guess I may have inadvertently offended some people with the comment - I apologize if that's the case. Don't forget life is all relative and based on your own personal experiences.. if I say the 335 is not a fast car, that's just based on my experiences, and my opinion. A modded 335 is a fast car.
