IMO, you buy bmw's for the performance of the engine. not the looks. they all look closely similar from model to model. It does nothing for me in the looks department and if i were to see it on the road i probably wouldn't recognize it over the mass amounts of accords and impalas.
It will sound nice, drive nice, and blend in like like most non-m series bmw's. Judging from how the 3 series are priced, it makes me wonder what kind of price point they would put on something like this.

2014 BMW 2 Series Coupe Spotted in Red, Giving Us Best Look Yet
We bring you the best look yet at the 2014 2 Series Coupe (F22), this time in red. We previously posted photos of the M235i coupe and other 2 Series coupes, but this is the first clear look we've had of the F22 from all angles.
These photos provide an excellent look at the headlight shape, which are much sportier and sleeker than the much maligned headlights of F20/F21 1 Series hatchback (with which the 2 Series lineup shares a platform). The photos do not yet reveal whether the headlights connect to the kidney grilles as it does on the F30 and upcoming models such as the X5 (F15) just spied today.
Please note that styling, shape, and even size of the front and rear bumpers are not yet clear as heavy camouflage still obscures both the front and rear of the prototypes.
2 SERIES LINEUP
The 2 Series models will be built on the same RWD platform as the current 1 Series hatchbacks (F20/F21) and is expected to spawn the following lineup:
SCHEDULE
The 2 Series will begin production in November 2013, as a 2014 model year.

• 2 Series Coupe (F22)
• 2 Series Convertible (F23) (spy pics)
• 2 Series Gran Coupe (four door coupe) - still speculative [more info].
• 2 Series Gran Sports Tourer (Hyundai Veloster type vehicle) - still highly speculative [more info].
• M235i M Performance Automobile - as now spotted and confirmed [spy pics].
• M2 Coupe - successor to current 1M coupe, recently rumored to be 4 Cylinder [more info] (though we have our doubts as the M235i is likely to share the M135i's six cylinder inline engine and our photographer confirms clearly hearing a 6 cylinder in the M235i prototype).
• M2 Gran Coupe - M version of 2 Series Gran Coupe to compete with Mercedes Benz CLA45 AMG and Audi S3 Sedan; still speculative [more info].

Pretty good looking from what I can see!
I'm confused though; is it the 1-series replacement or a car in-between the 1 and 3/4-series?

Proportions still look a bit comical, but I think this will look way better than the current 1-series.

Is it going to be priced in the same range as the 3-series....which is sort of what happened with the 1-series and E90/E92?

BMW: M235i Revealed
Carbuzz.com shows M235i (http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2013/10/...posed-7716605/)
BMW's spiritual successor to the 1 Series M Coupe is just around the corner.
Many are still grieving over the BMW 1 Series M Coupe no longer being in production. It was an absolutely fantastic car, perhaps the most pure M machine in recent times. Fortunately, BMW is all too aware of the car’s significance, and it’s been working on its spiritual successor: the M235i. We saw spy shots of it last March with very little to any camouflage, but its official specs still remained a mystery. Until now. An official spec sheet was just leaked online revealing the high-powered coupe will pack a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six.
It’ll produce 321 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph will happen in 4.8 seconds when equipped with the dual-clutch gearbox. If you prefer to row your own gears via six-speed manual that sprint time will drop by 0.2 seconds. Top speed, like nearly all other BMW models, will be electronically limited to 155 mph. Pricing will start at US dollar equivalent of $50,000 in South Africa, but expect that number to be lower when it goes on sale stateside sometime next year.
