I've been trying to, trust me. Her last two cars were Accords (2004 EX-V6, 2008 EX-V6), and she wants something different.

But living on Long Island and commuting to Queens every day makes me hesitant to suggest anything "nice". Her Accord has street parking bruises all over just from the past 4 months alone.

Acura making all of these boring ass cars without 6MT options has me thinking some performance versions will be coming out at some point in the future.

To be honest, this looks pretty freaking good for a Camry. I'd have to think long and hard about getting an Accord over something that looks like this...

This is the ILX's MMC. I doubt there will be a 6MT version just for 2016.

It doesn't make sense to offer a 6MT for the first 3 years, not offer it for its 4th year, and then offer it again for its 5th and final year before the 2nd gen ILX comes out in 2017.

Time to face the reality that the 6MT is gone.

Sigh... You're right.

The problem is, everyone talks bout wanting a 6MT, but clearly no one was buying them and as such they're being phased out. Even though enthusiasts may want a 6MT, I think sometimes they keep their significant other in mind when purchasing a car and as such, opt for the auto or DCT. It's a damn shame. Driving a manual is not rocket science.

Although, it would be nice if Acura brought back the "Type S" badging and kept the 6MT as either exclusive across the entire Type S lineup, or at least an option. Reality is that won't happen either though.

It's not as simple as that though. Yes, most buyers these days opt for AT. But Acura is not doing MT buyers any favor when the MT is only available on certain trims. For instance, if you want the ILX 6MT, you have to get the dynamic trim. You can't get ILX Advance 6MT. Of course, this issue is not just an Acura issue. But ya, if 6MT is available on more trims, I'd think the take rate would be better than 5%.

They started with the already odd looking Civic and 4G-TL-fied it. Jeez.

Call me a hater but that's one ugly car. Sorry.

Unfortunate about the 6 MT. Acura's final one, right?

But...I can live with that grille. In fact, (if Acura insists on sticking with the beak) I hope this version will make its way to the MMC of the rest of the line. Now...about those hidden exhausts...

New Powertrain

All 2016 ILX models will be powered by a 2.4-liter, 16-valve, direct-injected DOHC i-VTEC engine with peak output of 201-horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 180 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm, up 51 horsepower and 40 lb.-ft. compared to the outgoing 2.0-liter engine. The new engine is mated to an 8-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) with torque converter and paddle-controlled Sequential Sport Shift. It's the most advanced transmission in its competitive set, delivering incredibly quick, crisp and intuitive gear changes, including rev-matching down shifts, to achieve outstanding response and sporting performance with top-class fuel efficiency. The world's first DCT with a torque converter, Acura's 8-speed DCT provides off-the-line torque multiplication for smoother, more powerful launches that other DCTs cannot match.

Its goes with the off road ground clearance. That way you dont have to worry about smashing exhaust tips when you are off roading in your car.

Yea, seeing it in the photos above (the silver one), it's not very appealing. It looks bulbous, kind of tacked together. IMO, the headlights don't help.

This looks even more like a Civic. And the slack-jawed front bumper is killing it for me. Along with the 4x4, hidden exhaust, etc.

The only thing that I like with what they did to the exterior is the front. Better than the pre-MMC, IMO. Not sure about the rear bumper corner reflector area. Everything else is the same old

MMC

vs pre-MMC

Honestly, it still looks like a 10% fancier civic.

No 6MT? Fail.
No exhaust pipes? Fail.
4x4 ride height? Fail.
Identical civic dash? Fail.
No Type S option like the CSX had? Fail.
Light grey interior? Fail.

As far as interiors go, all black or all tan should be it. Black looks sporty. Tan looks luxurious. Grey looks like something out of a base model, grandma driven, 1998 corolla Bleh.

I hope Acura tells us how sporty this car is. Because I'm not seeing it.

Maybe, maybe not.

The 2G TL did not have a manual but H/A brought it back for the 3G TL.

They didn't bring back the manual for the 3G. They introduced the manual on the 3G. Pretty sure the 1G and 2G were auto only.

My bad, I was thinking of the Vigor which had a manual option, H/A dropped the 5MT for the 1G TL (Vigor replacement) and 2G but brought it back for the 3G TL.

the press release didnt say anything about aspecs being lower.

the 3G TL was given a lower "aspec" suspension kit.

so, maybe they did just that. lowered it for the aspec.
