ZDX reliability
ZDX reliability
In the market for a 2010-2013 zdx, and i wanted to see what the reliability is for these cars. Low or high maintenance ? i would greatly appreciate the responses look forward to joining the group if i get it purchased.
hello mr. stacks. or shall I call you monster?
it generally depends on your definition of reliable.
if by reliable you mean a tried and true engine that has been in service for over 2 decades, then you've picked the right brand. Honda's J-series engine is pretty much bullet proof.
The engine will outlast your ownership of the car with simple maintenance.
now; like any other used vehicle with about 80-100k miles on the clock, other issues will start to crop up...from suspension to interior quirks. but all depends on how the previous owner took care of the car.
Hope this helps!

Data point of 1: my 2011 ZDX is about to hit 78,000 miles. I've had to replace the battery twice; I'm on my third set of tires; other than that it has needed nothing beyond standard maintenance as indicated by the maintenance minder. Oh, and I did proactively replace the water pump when doing the timing belt change because it just costs so much less to do it at the same time. And mine is the top-trim Advance model with the fancy suspension, safety doo-dads, etc. The vehicle has just been bulletproof and a joy to own.
Pretty darn reliable but Acura cars are just that.
From my past Acura’s 1991 Legend Coupe 188,000 Miles of no break downs and 2004 TL 83,000 to my current Advance ZDX, 2010 77,000 miles they all have been normal maintenance reliable vehicles , nothing goes wrong !
Now on 2012 ZDX documented complaint engine transmission and drive train which was like 1 complaint ! 7,000 ZDX sold and 1 complaint
4 complaints on ZDX’s check engine light running rough 4!!! 😂 4 people !
and on the ZDX Advance models suspension strut problems every 40,000 miles which I had and that’s $4,000 to fix! to me is really the only issue that will happen if you get ADVANCE MODEL so basically reliability is a not a issue on these cars.

Autolist have 11, Cars.com has 9 so you get the picture ! The choices are slowly diminishing which happens to most older cars but worst on ZDX cars since only 7,400 or so were sold. Want one with running boards and it’s even smaller. Hope you find a great one !

one would totally strip the car of all accessories like door handles, lights, plastic trim, rubber trim.
then one would sand the paint, then lay a primer. then one would start block sanding. the whole car. to get rid of any lines. up to this point it may take upwards of 40 hours.
depending on if the customer wants the engine bay painted to match, along with the door trim....so one is spending many many many man hours just to get it to this point.
if you dont care about the engine bay or door panels, one can get away without doing these. but when one would open the door, one can see the difference in colors.
if one didnt care, they would skip over this laborious effort which is why you have heard of the horror stories...either the shop didnt care or the customer didnt care.....basically one didnt put enough monies into the car...
an OEM like paint job will cost upwards of $5000.
why would one spend $5000+ on a paint job when one can just find the color they want in the used market?
