Where is the 4 zone cl. control?

The X6 has a 4 zone cl. control optional.
The MDX has it standard + rear seats heater optional.
The ZDX is more expensive of the MDX , but not rear climate, even for money...
Why?

I'm assuming that since this vehicle will be bought by DINKS (Double Income No Kids) that it's pointless to put it in. I don't agree btw but I bet you that's Acura's logic.

Why would someone pick a ZDX over an MDX? Maybe because they don't want a boxy SUV with a 3rd row seat? Or maybe because they like the ZDX's glass roof? Or maybe they like keyless entry/start/etc.? Few people will choose the ZDX over the MDX, but I'm sure somebody will.

I don't see this as a pissing match between Acura's most popular vehicle and a niche model. Instead, I see it as Acura responding to a customer want. Isn't that the purpose of a business, to respond to a customer want? Basing the ZDX off of an MDX platform was smart, in my opinion, since it extends the platform.

By the way, the MDX sold half as many units as the Pilot, on which the MDX is based. Those Pilot buyers might ask why anyone in their right mind would buy an MDX, since it is basically a fancy Pilot in many people's perception.

People who think the MDX is a fancy Pilot are smoking crack, the Pilot is not in the MDX league. They share the global truck platform that is about it, the MDX actually debuted first this generation so it should be the other way around.

100% agree.
I own an MDX 2008 and I would never consider the Pilot as a cheaper alternative... complt. different engines, interiors, details...

working at a dealership, this is what i have noticed.

the people that usually buy zdx are wealthy and pay the car off with a check. the people that buy it, but it simply because of the exotic and conceptual style not see around. the people will simply love it or hate it.

ive seen people in bentleys, s65, 760Li...etc., come check out the ZDX

and yes its targeted towards single rich males with no family between the ages of 30-50 or so..

This thing should have at least a V8 to claim its price tag. fx50s or X6 kills it in any comparison test. for about $57k you get a X6d with over 400 lbs torque or a fx50s with 390 hp.

As, I stated in a previous post I believe the intent was to release the ZDX with a V8 but once the engine was cancelled the vechicle was to far in production to be cancelled. Hopefully the ZDX can maintain sales until the next generation V6 arrives and raises the bar like the now dated J series did in the early 2000's.
