Is this What Pre-Owned ZDXs Go For Nowadays
I have long toyed w/ the idea of purchasing a ZDX but for various reasons have yet to do so ... then I came across this advertisement: Certified Advance Package w/ 13,023 miles for $38,888. I know that the ZDX has not been a great seller but that seems awfully cheap.
This is a dealership page & not like Craig's List so I think that this truly is the asking price. Thoughts? Is this really what used ZDXs go for? Other than my NSX I have never purchased used before & not too keen on the idea but for ~$18,000 less than new ...

Working at an Acura dealership here is what I can tell you. First, it is a certified preowned which is good because it comes with an extension of the original warrenty which is good at any Acura dealership with zero deductable. With what I see it looks as though the dealership in Kansas has had it for about 3 months. When a dealership gets a car in on trade first they try to make money with it, after a few months they are just looking to get rid of it reguardless of profit. If they send it to auction what will they get for it. On the Carfax it shows they offered it for sale back in September so the dealership has had it for a while. I will tell you this, the lower they go with the price also shrinks how much they can negoshiate before they start loosing money, so you may not see them move much off the price. If you have any more questions about the ZDX you can email me at rhensley@drivehubler.com, I will try to answer any questions I can. I will tell you $18k off to get a car with a better then new powertrain warrenty and an almost good as new bumper to bumper warrenty is an excellent deal. (sorry about the bad spelling, trying in a hurry)

Thanks for the Info
You have given me lots to ponder. I may wait tho for a black on black as that would be my 1st choice. There is bronze/umber for $37,888 but that only has the tech package & I would pay the extra $1,000 for the advance. Altho it looks very luxurious, I think that I would tire of that color scheme fast - it is kinda 70s-ish:

If it's $38,888, try offering $37,500, and then settle at $38k even. I bet the dealer takes it; they might even take $37,500. From a percentage standpoint, it's not that much lower...

even as rare as it would take for them to come into the dealership, we still never sold much at all. the demand and market wasnt there...especially with the Accord crosstour being the main alternative at half the price. Its a great car, but not worth the price to most. Most of the people that inquired to me about it were mainly rich middle aged single men who were in their mid-life crisis and wanted a nice toy. No offense to anyone here, but as a salesman thats what i saw, and we also had to read statistics that stated the same.
so yes, its not hard to believe they go that low. the 2006 Q45 was a $50K car that dropped half its price in under just 2 years. Well rounded car, but Marketing and market was the key.

also some dealers are just looking to free up capital to invest in a different car that might sell quicker/at a higher price and make up the difference. I've seen this happen before where it was clear the dealer just wanted to dump the car (dad's I35) and move on.

I think this is a BARGAIN!
However, I always worry about a very new and low mileage vehicle being traded in at the dealership - why would the original owner trade it in so quickly? Was there something wrong with the vehicle in the first place? Or was it just that the owner did not like it for whatever reason?
Am I being paranoid here???

At that price i'd also look into trading up for a ZDX. Though I don't like the possibility of them being loaners. Not everyone does this, but when I get a loaner, i beat the Sh*t out of it because its not mines and I don't need to worry about it.
but man.. $18k+ off? jeeeeeze its pretty tempting.

I've seen this ZDX in person and drive by it everyday to work. Not bad for $38K. Superior Acura is about 5 minutes away from my job. I don't like going to them since they are in Kansas. Kansas sales tax is much higher than Missouri, so I always take my car to Jay Wolfe Acura on the Missouri side.

In case anyone is interested, this dealership in NC has a new 2010 ZDX Advance Pkg - $56,045 - that they are offering $11,000 off up-front with no haggling. Sad that it has been there this long & oddly, they sold all of the 2011s they had.
I have been contemplating it but I am not crazy about the color & still think I would rather wait for all the new models/tech that Acura should be ushering out in the next few years ...
On a side note, they have not had a RL in forever.
