When I took possession of my 2010 ZDX it came with only one key fob.

I contacted my local hardware store that sells and programs car keys and it turns out that particular fob is on back order. I called my nearest dealer and they're on back order there too.

Who knows how long I'll have to wait till they become available? So here's my question: if I obtained an old used key fob from ebay or a junk yard can it be reprogramed to work with my car?

Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Yes. I was told by my local hardware store that does programing those are mostly cheap, Chinese knock-offs.

He said sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. And when they do work according to him, they often don't work for long.
