Liftgate button & center console questions

Hi - I just got new ZDX yesterday and it seems like the button on the liftgate itself (the button just above the licence plate) is operating oppisite of what I'd expect and what it seems like the manual describes. I would expect that when you push this button and lift up on the lifgate it should unlock and open. But instead when I push the button it locks the car???? Is that not opperating correctly or is there a program setting which can change how this button works? Anyone else notice this?

I aso notice when I lift up the center console the sliding part which covers the second cup hold kind of slides back into the console itself and does not slide back into position when the console cover is place back in normal position. Should that sliding part have more tension in the spring or whatever is driving it so it fully extends on its own?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on these topics.

There are two buttons under there. You are pressing the flat one on the right that locks the car. There is another, pointed button on the left that opens the liftgate.

Thanks for the tip kream42, I had no idea about the flat button on the right side that locks the car.

1alembic, I have the same issue with my center console. I always thought the center console is very functional but it could be a bit more solid and better quality. It seems like every time I go to release the center slider I have to push it further so it will close, its annoying.

Thanks kream42 - I feel a little funny now. I found the open button or it even looks more like a lever right in the center. When I was reaing the manual it doesn't seem to talk about the locking button at all so thank you so much for the info. I would have felt really bad if I'd have drive an hour back to the dealer to tell them it wasn't working correctly.

And mugen_kid - Thanks for your comments too. Sounds like my console is doing the same thing yours is. Have a great weekend.

The center console sliding portion stays stationary when I open the console. I would get the dealer to look at it as it shouldn't move unless you intentionally push it to open. I find no quality issue with the center console though it would have been nice if it was as deep as the RDX console.

I find my center counsole creaks a lot when driving with my arm on it. That bothers me. Anyone else have that problem?

Mine creaks too. I found that it is directly related to the rubber knobs on the underside. If you place a small piece of cloth between them and the plastic they sit on, the creaks go away. I think they picked up some dirt and cleaning them helps alot.
