So after about a year of research, discussions with dealers, negotiating, and patience today I took delivery of my 2001 ZDX Advance in black cherry pearl with a taupe interior. I also loaded up on Acura accessories--the service department had never installed most of the ones I got! I was pleased with the deal ($2k below invoice on the car, then MSRP on the accessories but no charge for installation). I probably could have done better but it wasn't worth negotiating further--I was happy and feel that the dealership got a fair profit too.
I won't get a chance to detail it myself until next weekend, but here are some initial pics:

I've never understood why manufacturers would list color combinations in the brochure and then make it so hard to get them. But in any event, this is the color we liked and the fact that it is so rare is just an added bonus!

That is a beautiful colour and looks great with the rims and running board. It sure would have been a choice for me if it had been available up here.

$399/mo 10K/yr just TTL upfront! Originally he wanted $479/mo but,
I happened to be in the right place at the right time to get this deal. It was the last day that the dealer could lease that particular vehicle, begining in april he could only sell it. needless to say I love it, I traded in a ML350 for it.

Thank you! And while I feel the huge grille at least works with the aggressive styling on the rest of the ZDX (unlike the other vehicles in the line-up), I agree that the toned-down grille on the new TL is significantly improved. It would most likely translate very well to the ZDX.

Thanks! Apparently this color is available by special order only, and even then my dealership had to pull strings with corporate to get it produced. For whatever reason, they are only producing ZDX's in black, silver, and white. There was a big push for the gold ones last year, but apparently those are special order now, too.
