how well does the seat cooling work?

I just want to know what people think who have had time to really try. It seems like its a different system than in other vehicles.

I do not have long term experience with it, however on my short test they did not seem to work as well as the Lexus system.

the Acura RL, along with all lexus, and benz vehicles work in a way where the air is pushed out of the seat. The best way to describe this would be to imagine the surface of an air hockey table... but on a leather surface.

The ZDX that i looked at had the vented seats. The way these work is supposed to draw air into the seats. I sat there for almost 5 minutes and the seat was exactly like it was when i first got in, still hot. (the car had been sitting in the sun in the dealers lot prior to be looking at it)

So to me, it does not seem to work well.

I imagine it would be useful if you just got out of the gym into your car where you are sweating. this may help draw away the heat emitting from your body. However, I do not see it helping too much on a hot day vs. just having the a/c blasting.

this feature was the main reason i purchased the advanced package. I love the feature, as do most people that i've demo'ed it for. I know if it is on for any length of time I cannot use it on the maximum level, only the second level - too much cooling.

Do you mean the seat gets too cool? It doesn't actually produced cold air though, it sucks air into the seat. Can you explain in detail what it feels like?

on my short test of the zdx, i did not feel anything sitting there.

When you stand in front of a fan you feel cooler even though the temperature of the air is no different. There is a drying affect that feels cooler on your skin. I have noticed that it doesn't work as well if the windows/roof is open, but when the cooling effect is needed, that's a simple compromise.

I know the car well and can tell you how it works. It sucks air in from under the front seat and blows it through the seat. With the windows or rooff open the car is not getting cooled off so it will not cool the seats. If you have the a/c on it will cool the inside of the seats to whatever the air temp is in the car. It does not blow the seat full of a/c'ed air directly into it. It is really designed to keep you from sweating and stay comfortable in the seat. It is not designed to freeze your privates.

As a potential ZDX owner in the near future, I'd appreciate it if you'd leave my privates out of this discussion, Private.
