Or any idea how I can transport 2 bikes on a weekly basis?
I think that the only option is to get the trailer hitch ($350+ install) and a metal bike rack to go into the hitch (around $200)

I am revisiting the idea of a bike rack.
Thule has come out with a trunk bike rack, but I can't picture how it would look on the ZDX. Does anyone here have it?

OP-if you don't want to mar or scratch your paint, go with a hitch rack. the strap on racks suck. they can scratch your car, and they are not secure in keep your bikes in place.
your two options...roof rack on the factory rails OR for ease of convenience...hitch rack.
an aftermarket hitch for the MDX is less than $200 from etrailers.com and an hour of your time to install. i can't imagine the hitch for the ZDX being much different...well after looking at etrailer.com an aftermarket class I hitch (the only thing available) is $141. get a quality hitch rack for the bikes (spend around $250-300) and then you're golden.
the MDX takes a class III hitch with a 2in receiver. the ZDX takes a class I with a 1 1/4 in receiver. and just FYI: essentially all the aftermarket hitches are made by the SAME parent company.
i've added a hitch and the hitch rack to my MDX, and i've run roof racks on several other cars including my TL.
go with a hitch. strap on racks...
but it's your car...and your money...good luck.
