Zaino's mirror finish

Here's our new CL-S with just one coat of Zaino...

http://public.fotki.com/zoecat5/the_...hood_shot.html

I tried to attach the shot directly, but it wasn't letting me do it for some strange reason.

Thanks guys,

That's just one coat (using Z5 and ZFX). We decided to go with the Z5 (swirl remover) because the SUV which is also black had major swirl marks. I now have 3 coats on the SUV and it sparkles. This stuff is amazing. And even in Vancouver, I was able to put a coat of Z5 on the truck today and it dried really quickly, even without the ZFX.

nope!

Although I bought a claybar, we decided not to use it on the CL as the finish was already really smooth.

well....

What I've read on this site is this...

If you run your fingers over the paint finish and it feels super smooth, you're OK. If it feels rough in any way, you should probably claybar.

I hope this is helpful. There are guys on this board that know a LOT more about Zaino than I do - if you're willing to invest the time using the claybar, I can't see how it can hurt.

Just make sure you start with a wax free finish before you start using your Zaino or claybar (Dawn dishwashing detergent works great for stripping off any wax put on by the dealer).

I thought I may have been stupid when I purchased the clay bar (before I was a Zaino distributor) a few years ago for my then-new car. The clay bar took off some contaminants (the bar was black in places), but the sm-o-o-o-o-o-thness of the car post-clay bar was what knocked me on the floor. And there I was that night, kept going out into the garage often just to touch the car. Never felt a car finish so silky smooth.

Here is the 2 cent tip of the day, when using a clay bar.... Get a bucket of hot water... the hotter the better... put the clay bar and container that it comes in the water.... This will make it easier to form and work with. Spray your lubricant on the paint and work in one direction ..back and forth... The clay will take any oxidation out of the paint... It works well on bugs on bumpers, road tar and small scrathes. But after you work the clay on a 1 foot by 1 foot section dunk it back into the hot water and let it warm up again. fold the clay and mold it back. Spray the surface and repeat... now dry the car, use a brightner so you get any remaining clay out of the paint. Plus your bringing out the beautiful shine of the car....Wipe the car off well then either wash it (water only) or start waxing away... I don't recommend waxing the car twice in one day... let the car's wax have a chance to set up good before you take it off too...... and don't attempt to do any of the procedures in the hot sun.. for you will find swirl marks after you take off the wax... I hope this helps some of you out... fell free to write me with any questions....
