Is Zaino Z5 enough to remove swirls?

I'm gonna buy a PC 7424 soon and use it to remove the 3 years worth of swirl in my black paint. Will Z5 be enough? What else should I be using?

I've been reading the "how-to" sections on properautocar.com but i'm just looking for some more input from you guys.

Thanks

I don't know much about Zaino, but I don't think its known to remove swirls that much. What you should really use with a PC is Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze, or even 3M makes some pretty good swirl removers.

Z5 is to remove swirl marks.

It works really good. It takes time but the results make it worth it.

I've got about 5 coats of Z5 on the car and the swirl is still there. So i'm stepping up to the PC 7424. I think the Z5 hides the swirl more than it removes it.

Z-5™ and will highlight any surface imperfections, whereas Z-5 will ‘hide’ very [b]minor [b]surface imperfections with fillers.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are saying.

Z-5 will highlight surface imperfections and Z-5 will hide minor surface imperfections? How can it do one thing and the opposite at the same time?

I think he meant Z2 will highlight and Z5 will hide. TOGWT really knows his stuff, so it's probably just a typo.

Z5, at best, will hide minor swirl marks. You really need a SMR product to remove the swirls prior to any Zaino.

Z5 does not remove swirls, it fills them in and hides them. They'll come back after a few washes.

Try someting like Meguiars # 80 Speed glaze to remove swirls

So after the #80 can I go directly back to Z-2...Z-6...Z-2...etc?

Before going to Zaino, I'd wash the car with Z7, Meg's GC or whatever car wash. I'm pretty sure #80 has some oils in it. Any oils between the paint and Zaino will not yield an optimal bond for Zaino.

I always clay before doing any polishing.

General rule of thumb: Do the bag test. Take a plastic sandwich bag and run it across your wet, sudsy paint. If you feel any kind of grit, it's time to clay. The sandwich bag "magnifys" the feeling of the grit.
HTH, Good Luck !
