Zaino me
Zaino me
i've been using z-7 and z-6 for awhile, recently decided im gonna try and do the whole polish detail and i have a few questions.
i have swirls and webbing, should i use z-5 pro the whole way through, or should i do 1 layer of z-5 pro to hide swirls, then switch to z-2 for all coats after the z-5.
also has anyone used Z-PC Fusion is that worth the purchase, or can i get by with z-5. so im obviously new to zaino, are all his products just apply and let dry, or do you use a PC with the swirl polishes and the Z-PC Fusion.

You wanna eliminate the swirls. Z-5 is mostly filler and Z-PC is their abrasive polish which is comparable to PB SSR-1 or Optimum Polish. You can remove swirls by hand but it's time consuming and the results will be inconsistent from panel to panel. Best bet is machine polish . . .
To get the most out of Zaino, you'll need a clean surface free of imperfections.

If your going to go the expense of Zaino here is what my experience taught me .
A) Z2 and ZFX are great of your a gorilla .. I do a lot od detailing and am in good detail shape and to apply 3 layers of Z2 in a day is a killer ... by the time you do layer 2 your getting tired and layer 3 isn't done well.
B) Your better off to do Z1 once followed by Z2 then more Z2 24 hours apart of weekend to weekend.
C) I haven't bought into all the other "Z" stuff ... even the Z6 between layers didn't do anything I could see on a perfectly polished out car.
So if your spending that money go one step further and get a UDM or PC and polishes per above and do it right.
thanks for all the replies, been looking into getting a UDM, the price on the refurbished one sounds very tempting.
another question, i see all these swirl removers ones for light swirls one for meidum swirls etc. how do you no wich ones right for your application.

I prefer a little more personal attention with personal directives. But in the interim, what I can do is provide you a list of abrasive (light to heavy) polishes, as well as light to heavy polishing pads.
Polishes in the light category would include:
Optimum Polish
Four Star Ult. Swirl Mark Remover
Einszett Metallic Polish (Which has slight fillers and Poly/Nuba protection also)
Einszett Final Finish
One Grand Omega Glaze (A Glaze with light abrasives)
Poorbpys World SSR1
Duragloss 652 Buffing & Polishing Cleaner
Medium Category
Four Star Body Shop Light Cut Compound
Optimum Compound
Einszett Paint Polish (Which has slight fillers and Poly/Nuba protection also)
Einszett Hi Gloss Polish
Poorboys World SSR 2.5
Medium + Category
Optimum Hyper Compound
Einszett Extra Paint Cleaner
Einszett Intensive Paste
Four Star Body Shop Med. Cut Compound
Pads- Aggressive to least aggressive
6" Wool/Foam, new soon at Exceldetail.com
Yellow Erasure cutting pad
Orange Versatile cutting/polishing/finishing
White Light polishing
Black, for cleaner/protectants
Red for sealants
As you can see there are potentially many combinations to the above products. I highly recommend you start with white pads and light polishing products like Optimum Polish, Four Star Ult Swirl Mark Remover or Einszett Metallic Polish. Guage your results, then hit it again. Sometimes its better to do it twice with the same product then to jump ahead and go with something more aggressive. One step at a time. Your first step is to reveal (to those with little or no experience) what further work needs to be done. Very rarely will you hit the nail right on the head at onset. You may either need additional abrasiveness or increased cut with your pad. Any time you use an abrasive polish, your removing/leveling your clear coat. But always guage your results, then ask where you want to go from there. And as always, theres in incredible wealth of experience here (and growing) willing to help out.

okay so im pretty sure i have light swirls, most of the swirl removers for light swirls are finishing polishes.
so if i remove the swirls with a light cutting pad, then i switch to a finishing pad could i use the polish as a finishing polish also.
