Zaino?

Never heard of this stuff before. I use Mother's Three Phase System. Is the Zaino any better or is it just an expensive wax system?

What's the best orbital waxer on the market?

Zaino has been around for a while .. expensive but good. What they don't tell you is its totally dependent on the surface prep. You need to polish all the swirling out first or you just have shiney swirls.

Orbitals are not wax applicators. They are used to correct paint issues.

heard good things about Zaino but never used it. When I am in NJ I keep thinking I should head to the Zaino store in Howell and check the product out. In the meantime I use Mequiers or mothers.

Like I said .. Zaino is a complete waste of time unless you have the equipment to polish your car out swirl free ...

True its always good to start with a swirl free finish but I think your forgetting one of the main benefits of a good polymer wax!! Its protects your paint! I have been using Zaino for years I would never use anything else the stuff easily lasts 6 months on my car.

Your right .... I was making my comment based on looks ... yes a polymer will last longer than a regular wax.

I too used Zaino for years .. finally moved on.

Usually in the spring detail I put down a layer of Klasse SG for the generic gloss followed by Four Star UPP layers.

It came charged ... as for lasting ... not much will last like Zaino or Klasse SG but it stays slick for a few washes and protected for 3 or so months.

I've been using Zaino for years now, I like it's durability and absolutely rediculous shine when layered up on a black car. What was said above though about your paint needing to be blemish free to begin with is a BIG plus!

Ya if you don't polish it out it just amplifies the paint flaws ..

I have an old saying "You can put 10 layers of Zaino on dog shit .. and all you get is shiny dog shit .

Zaino on black

4* UPP over SG on white

It's hard to make lighter shades "pop" like a well detailed dark, especially black car, and that's were Zaino works best IMO. Not sure what I'm going to use on the silver RDX long term, have some Z on there now just for protection for the winter months, but again it just doesn't have the same effect.

Ah well, at least the lighter shades are easier to keep clean - black cars drive me nuts, but they're like a disease, so I'll probably always own one LOL.

I agree I love Zainos shine some people say it doesn't have the depth of a good canuba which might be true to some highly critical enthusiasts, but not at the expense of the durability for a daily driver.

Really brings out the blue in the NBP!

OK,
This is my first post and just had to jump in with a comment about Zaino. I have been using since 98 on a 98 Corvette, then a 2000 Vette, 2004 Lexus, 2005 Dodge Ram, and now on my wife's 2011 Acura TL. Three of the vehicles were black and there is nothing better than Zaino. If you check them out you will find a product that removes the swirl marks.

Yes, I agree that it is a time consuming product but the results are worth it. Any used vehicle needs to be stripped with Dawn and clayed before you even start the Zaino. Good results do not come without a little hard work. But don't we like to take care of our stuff. Those that just drive don't have a clue what a car forum is even about!

Enjoying all the good information that I am finding on the site.

Thanks everyone!

Welcome Mike. I've used Zaino since I bought my silver Type S because it was recommended by my dealership-believe it or not!

I like the line of products. The quick shine product is silky smooth. The leather products are outstanding.

Out of boredom and wanted to see if I can get deeper shine, I recently tried Menzerna, Chemical Guys and Dodo Juice.....WOW! I used 2 coats of the Dodo Juice white finish, which is for a light colored metallic finish. I put this on about a month and a half ago and it's still holding beautifully.

Would it be possible to apply Zaino for protection and then a coat of regular wax for the shine? I know most waxes aren't layerable, just wondering if it's possible. Sorry for the noob question.

I recently had one of the top detailers/color sanders in Wash. state detail my car before a big show. I watched him use Meguires 105, then 205. After the polishing he used Black Fire over Ice on my '94 Legend, and it looked fan-tas-tic!
