Wipe Down?
Wipe Down?
I was wondering what you guys suggest for a quick wipe down of the car? Like if the car has been sitting for 2 days, that light dust that forms on it. Right now I use a spray bottle with 3 parts water and 1 part window cleaner. I spray it on a soft towel and then wipe the car dow. It works pretty well but I was wondering what you guys do?
the best way is to spray the car one section at a time with a quick detail spray like meguiars mist and wipe quick detail spray...use a microfibre to wipe clean...i would use plenty of microfibre towels during the process as the towels will be collecting the dust and if your not careful you will drag that dust over the clear coat and scratch the car...i dont usually do this to my car as i worry too much about swirling my clear coat, i have a dark color car...now if i had a white diamond or silver car i would use this process as the swirling is much harder to see with these two colors...
the other thing that i do when my car was clean and then sitting in the garage for a few days collecting dust is to get my air compressor and set it to 90 psi and blast the dust off with air....i like this much better but it will only work if your car is waxed or sealed really good so the dust wont stick....

A quick detailer is the safest method. Windex and water is not a quick detailer. Its made to clean windows! Quick detailers such as Optimum Quick Detailer & Gloss Enhancer is made with products which lubricate the surface allowing for easier dust removal. It also contains products which fortify your paint from bird bomb attacks, finger prints, dust, sap etc. Protection is better then many detail sprays, averages about 2 weeks. The slickness obtained from Optimum ID & GE is simply incredible though!
As with most detail sprays, you want to apply on a cool surface, which has a base coat of protection. Having a base coat allows the microfiber, an easier "glide path". Surface should be free from heavy debris. "QD's", as most are called ,are products containing water based silicones, resins, surfactants. Theyre just about the easiest car care product to use, and the rewards of your minimal efforts, justify there afforability.
Simply spray a light mist over desired area, use a folded 16x16 microfiber. Start at the point most farthest away from you and work closer to yourself. Use no additional added pressure, wipe the dust away, all the while rolling the microfiber in an upward fashion to present new cloth to the surface.
Turn microfiber over, and buff away any residual spray/streaks.

I have seen hundreds of cars at shows where the guys use the water/windex and they are all hazed to hell. The ammonia in the windex also will remove the wax.
Stick with a M/F and a QD spray.
