Winter Wash Tips

Hi everyone,

With the winter here in the Northeast, I was thinking about how i was going to take care of my car. I may get it detailed a few times, but don't want to do that too much. How does everyone take care of the car? I'm referring mainly to washing and keeping clean, not so much winter prep like waxing. Do you go to the quick washes and bring your supplies? What's the best way to do a quick 30-45 minute cleaing when it's 35 degrees out?

Thanks

You can always do a rinseless or waterless wash. Takes about 15-30 minutes depending on the vehicle.

Interesting! What would you pick up at the auto store to do that?

rubber kitchen gloves, two bucket ONR wash, done. if the car is really gross a good rinse with the hose when the temps get above freezing (or take it to a self wash place to rinse), then proceed with ONR wash.

In NJ its around 40, so i just layer up, rubber glove under the wash mit and try not to get wet. just try to avoid the windy days. i bought a soap dispensing spray gun thing for my hose, i dont have a pressure washer, i first rinse the car, add the car wash to the spray gun, spray the car, go over it with a mitt, have a bucket with grit gaurd in it. then rinse, move the car back about 10 feet, dry it off, then into my garage for waxing.

Most likely you will have to order it. I prefer waterless because of ease of use in winter. I drench the car and wipe off with clean MF towels.

Look into Ultima Waterless, or Pinnacle Waterless wash. Both sold in concentrate and offer a amazing value.

Unless I can do my normal wash / dry in front of the house all I do is weekly I go to the self wash / spray wash and just use thier pressure rinse and get as much of the crud and chemicals as I can and just let the wand flood as much off and out of creavaces as I can.

I think this might be the way for me as it gets real cold.

I have not tied waterless, but it sounds like it will be worth a shot.
Thanks

def waterless or rinseless wash.

if it was freezing out heres what i would do.

cap full of ONR and a gallon of water in a sprayer (you can pick one up from home depot really cheap).
spray the car liberally. this should get rid of a lot of the heavy dirt.

2 buckets of warm water and grit guards.
ONR in one bucket and plain water in the other.

wash with a mitt and dry with a MF towel.

done.
